Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

This beer’s got the funk. Having tried this several times over the course of over a year, I must say that bottle age does this brew a world of good. Tart and tang flavors have mellowed a bit. Brett may make for a flawed wine, but it makes for a truly unique drinking experience here. Salud. An under-appreciated beer, that deserves its due.

Appearance: Pours a yellow gold with a white head that subsides to almost nothing. The body is clear, with some tiny yeast particles flying around, and a few rising bubbles. Aroma: Of note, I could smell the funk from 2 feet away after pouring into my glass. Strong brett, including hoofy barnyardy goodness, hay and rain water, and wet dog. Getting closer to the beer, I smell sweet fruits, figs, citrus, and honeydew. I also smell a decent amount of spices, cloves and nutmeg in there. Taste: Bitter hops, metal, funky bready yeast, figs. Finishes really dry and rusty. I don’t eat as much rust as I used to, but believe me...rusty. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, a little juicy. Overall: I enjoyed this a little more fresh last year. Some bitterness really popped out of this one.

On tap at Birreria Paradiso. Deep amber with pale head. Aroma of rising raisin bread and hay. Tastes of sour dark cherries with a bit of hops in the finish. Interesting and unique.

On tap at Papago. Pours medium gold with a 2 finger foamy white head that lasts and leaves decent lacing. The nose is barnyard funk, fruit and spice. The taste is fruit, peppery spice and yeast with mild earthy funk. Medium mouthfeel. Decent beer.

From bottle@Københavnske Øldage 2009. Clear gold colored, thin white head. Slight barnyard and funky fruits on the nose. Also som mealy and doughy malts. Taste is fresh, sourish malts, mild spices, and a nice Brett-like fruitiness. Quite light-bodied considering the alcohol strenght. Mildly hopped. Fresh and clean in the mouth. Finish is quite short, spiced and light acidic. Very likeable.

Hazy golden color with a white head. Sour lemon, grass, hay and farmhouse aroma. Interesting sour geuze-like flavor with lemon, hay and floral flavors. Fairly dry finish. This is an interesting one.

In short: A weird sweet and floral wild blond ale of some kind. An original and intriguing beer. More intriguing than good.
How: Bottle 220z. Consumed when around 1 year old.
The look: Partly cloudy yellow blonde body topped by very small white head
In long: Nose of wild flowers (dandelions and such) and a little barnyard. The taste is weird. Dry hay/straw, a lot of flower juice, a lot of band-aid, a little bit of perfume, a little brett presence, lemon grass, bleach (no kidding), green apples, white pepper. Very crisp. Medium tartness Carbonation is sharp with a lot of small bubbles. There is still some residual sugar in this bottle and now that the beer is one year old I don’t think the brett is going to dry it out anymore. Too bad. A little alcohol presence, and the beer is below 8%!. I was able to drink a full bomber but more because I was intrigued by the beer than anything else. Like oral sex from a quadriplegic toothless midget it is intriguing and offers new sensations and you need to try it once even if it is not really good.
