jmm635 (250), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA May 26, 2009 Hazy, light orange pour with a sticky white head that dissapates, but remains a while. Lots of fruity sweetness on the nose, yet tart and sour. Strong vinegar smell. Funky, sour, spicy taste. Finish is dry and slightly metallic. Defreni (994), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 17, 2009 Flaske: Lysegul med et lille skumhoved. God karbonering. Stald og syre er tydeligt i smagen men desværre ubalanceret, Men godt forsøg. trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA May 14, 2009 Tasted as part of the Avery Experience at Brouwer’s. This one had some awful reviews, but I actually liked it. Pours the color of a light apple cider, with a mid-sized head. Oak, tart citrus, floral / herbal hops, some spiciness and fruitiness. Lively carbonation, with very little tartness for a Brett beer. I actually get a big white wine note out of this one. A little underwhelming overall, but this is good. jonboy32818 (30), orlando, Florida, USA May 5, 2009 Bottled in april 08. Now at a year old this one is hitting it’s stride fellas. Golden hazy pour with a white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is mangos and band aids with the funk coming on nice. Flavor is a little sweet up front with a great medicinal barnyard flavor that coats the tongue long after a swallow. Aside from the absent hop profile this really reminds me of an orval with about a year on it or the first year oro with about a year on it. I actually was so impressed with this beer that after trying it yesterday I went out and bought some more just to be sure it was that good. It is.
Cheers
JON GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 26, 2009 Pour is cloudy yellow with a creamy head. Good lacing. Smells lightly of a fruity yeast, lemon most likely from the hibiscus and lots of honey. A nice feel, thin but not watery. Taste is earthy like swiss chard or beets; some spice: star anise, cinnamon; and a slight sweetness. mistersinalin (367), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Apr 24, 2009 Updated: Apr 30, 2009Oh bring us some figgy pudding! I liked this weird beer. It isn’t too often that you get fig in your beer. I really thought it was a gutsy, yet interesting effort. That is what you should do with anniversary beers...take a chance. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Apr 21, 2009 22oz. bomber: This one poured a clear, golden yellow color. There was a decent white head on it that didn’t linger long. Lighter aroma. Grassy, floral and some fruit notes. A hint of sourness in there too. A slightly somewhat lighter body, with definitely a taste of brett. Interesting mix. There seems to be many subtle flavors to this the more you drink. Some lighter fruits, with a hint of pepper. Not bad. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Apr 19, 2009 Big bottle. Big starting head quickly fades. Hazy dark yellow. The Flames loose game one against Chicago. Big Brett nose full of funkiness. Big Brett mouthfeel with hibiscus esthers around the edges. Big Brett bounce at the finish and then pepper at the back of the tongue in the aftertaste. Strong brett and even stronger pepper.
