Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

Pour is cloudy yellow with a creamy head. Good lacing. Smells lightly of a fruity yeast, lemon most likely from the hibiscus and lots of honey. A nice feel, thin but not watery. Taste is earthy like swiss chard or beets; some spice: star anise, cinnamon; and a slight sweetness.

Oh bring us some figgy pudding! I liked this weird beer. It isn’t too often that you get fig in your beer. I really thought it was a gutsy, yet interesting effort. That is what you should do with anniversary beers...take a chance.

22oz. bomber: This one poured a clear, golden yellow color. There was a decent white head on it that didn’t linger long. Lighter aroma. Grassy, floral and some fruit notes. A hint of sourness in there too. A slightly somewhat lighter body, with definitely a taste of brett. Interesting mix. There seems to be many subtle flavors to this the more you drink. Some lighter fruits, with a hint of pepper. Not bad.

Big bottle. Big starting head quickly fades. Hazy dark yellow. The Flames loose game one against Chicago. Big Brett nose full of funkiness. Big Brett mouthfeel with hibiscus esthers around the edges. Big Brett bounce at the finish and then pepper at the back of the tongue in the aftertaste. Strong brett and even stronger pepper.

pours a deep copper with a medium white head. aroma is sweet, yeast, roasted malts, caramel, and fruit. drinks smooth and sweet with figs very evident up front, hibiscus sweetness also lends some spice. nice rich malts and a little citrus from hops finish this out. not something i would drink every day, but good and i would have another

Bomber. Beer is slightly cloudy, medium amber-orange colored. Head is initially large, white, frothy. Diminishes mostly but stays as a creamy frothy thin lid. The aroma is wild, sweet, fruity. Malty with moderate notes of cookie, toasted bread, lighter note of creamy caramel; Moderate lemon zest hop flare, lighter background of herb; Moderately/heavily yeasty with Bret notes of horse blanket and barn yard, band-aid, lesser note of bubble gum; Moderately vinous with a note of dried current The flavor is moderately acidic/juicy/dry, lightly bittersweet. The finish is moderately long, lightly acidic and trace bitter. Yeasty notes from the aroma linger back in the retronasals. The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average/lively. Plenty going on to sniff around at, but not really a stopper.

I was lucky to get to try a bottle early thanks to a friend. The label says 100% brett so I was expecting some funk and was not disappointed. The color was a hazy orange with a good head. It smelled funky, some grassy hay. The first taste was very funky and strange like grilled pork-fat. That may sound weird but it was good. As it warmed it became more of a spicy saison with funk. I’ll be looking to grab a couple bottles for aging purposes. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-27-2008 05:22:25

Mild semi hazy gold pour two finger head. Aroma, not much goin on here.Mild yeast and flowers. Dryish body with a slightly fruity , mostly apricot, light bodied. Not impressed. They could have done much better with an anniversary beer.
