I have never understood how people got "barnyard" from bretty beers. I grew up in the midwest downwind from several farms. Barnyards smell like animal shit. I have never smelled animal shit in a beer.......until now. Congratulations Avery, you have done it. Imagine a horse eating a bushel of lemons, then dropping a huge duce on some hay. That’s what this beer smells like. Yes, it’s a very unique strain alright. So it gets a 1 for the shit, 6 for the lemons with a final average of 3. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a white head. I was hoping the flavor would help this beer, but sadly it did not. This tastes like flower vase water, figs, and white pepper countered by a funky tartness. I don’t enjoy these herbally belgian beers, and this is no exception. Borderline drain pour. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Nose-light cherry funk, very light barnyard, very restrained fun. Decent nose. Taste-chlorine, pool water, light white grapes, grass (Marcus described it perfectly-tastes like chewing on a Cat’s Tail), light flower petals, tea. Overall the nose is nice, but the taste is way too grapey and floral, and reminds me of pool water. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA

I really don’t get the slamming, even if not everything is as palate-popping as one might hope. This is a solid brewery doing reasonably price and moderately experimental brews - what’s not to like? Anyways, soapbox over. This beer pours nicely, with a decent amount of carbonation and pleasant golden hue with traces of pink. The aroma is a bit soapy at times, though you can certainly get a sense of the brett and the hibiscus. It’s not actually that tart, and the sweetness at times overpowers the funk - I get barely any sense of the figs or the pepper, which is a shame (though there’s a bit of spice in the dry finish). I feel that this is solid, but if the pepper had been amped up and the hibiscus toned down a bit, I could see rating it substantially higher. Palidor19 (1798), Brandon, Florida, USA

Sweet wih a low sourness. Aromas of cereals and lots of wet horseblanket. hints of pepper. Dry and sour finish. Fresh taste but still too much brett for my liking. Enjoyit (1786), Vadum, Denmark
