Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

Bomber from BevMo. Pours a hazy orangish color. Dry dusty aroma, somewhat musty. A little sour fruitiness. Reminds me a really old Belgian something. Fairly spicy. A little bit of sourness going on. Interesting brew.

Bronze-tangerine color. Crystal clear. Ring of head. Fruity, flowery aroma and possibly the musky scent of figs. Heavy honey flavor, with floral uprisings. Noticeable acidity. Some pepper prick. Flavor can’t match the aroma.

Draught at TDR Ex: Sweet aroma. Smells of spices, coriander, flowers, hibiscus, and Brett yeast. Poured golden/yellow/straw/flax in color with a medium-sized white head that diminished. Flavor was medium sweet. Tastes of alcohol, spices, coriander, bubblegum, Brett, and pepper. Medium body. Chalky texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, spiced Brett finish. Some alcohol burn.

Lupulin Reunulin – Brickskeller. Light hazed gold, creamy white head. Floral oak and pepper aromas warm to hints of lemon zest. Light nutty earth and wood flavors balance on peppery fig and floral notes. 7.6% seems to shine a bit too much here. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Disappointing for an Avery Anniversary…

Pours golden, slightly hazy, with a large soapy white head, that dissipates quickly, leaving a little lace. Aroma is sour, tart, tangy, like champagne. Flavor is similar, but not totally sour. Has a light taste, which is slightly fruity--apples, figs. Floral aroma and taste, but very light body.

Bottle. Translucent golden pour with a small white head. Nose is sour fruits, soft spices, wild yeast, and sweat and leather. Taste is also tart fruits, ripe fruits, spices, funky yeast notes, sweet malts, leather, sweat and flowers. The body on this one has a light-medium overall feel with a light dryness and a soft, bubbly carbonation. The finish brings out more flowers, soft alcohol, spices, funky yeast, sweet malts, ripe and sour fruits and leather. Not as bad as the ratings let on.

I can’t smell very much in this beer. Looks ok, not much head. This is strange. A little fruit, but not distinct. I can’t tell what it is about this beer but it’s not that great really. Okay at best. Don’t get any distinct fig.

Murky apricot puree body with abundant yeast sediment, spritzy medium off-white head. Fairly strong pineapple aroma, tart, sourish, and sweaty, with light spice. Boozy body, the sharp carbonation carrying the spicy esters and light fruits (pineapple, primarily). None of the sourness promised by the aroma. Average, somewhat boring beer after a promising aroma.
