Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

Bottle. Very light and hazy. Interesting spicy nose and flavor. This beer is sweet, spicy, smooth, and easy to drink but won’t blow you away.

Bottle 650ml
Appearance: Murky amber gold ale with bright medium top.
Nose: Sour farm brew with medicinal elements and citric orange like substratum. Funky organic feel is unavoidable.
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied , soft in character. Less funky than aroma. slight spice with rose feel at finish. Interesting. Became more complex at finish. Slight fruity hints of red apple.

Clearish light blond, paler than I’d expected and frankly disappointing in the head maintenant department. Here, the brett manages to show upfront alright, as a spicy, perfumey and sandy character emanates from the glass. Perfumey is what is is as you can easily decipher lavender as well which makes for a very aromatic, rather intense experience, but the depth is not too impressive, nor is the acidity level, which is kept very low. Residual sugars can still be felt in there though, which might hint at improvement possibilities, but the wheaty, crackery malt base is not likely to hold out. Interesting, but that credo is done with incomparable variants and skills at Russian River.

Slight cold so I cannot smell that well. Perhaps some lemon zest and coriander. I think you can taste the hibiscus actually, a little tangy, dry in the finish. OK. This will do the trick after working one crazy St Patricks Day at the Union.

Poured a gold body with strong white head. Aroma is pleasantly funky. A bit of a letdown upon the first sip. Seems like a mess of fruit, spices, sugar. Just way too busy.

Pours a hazy cloudy gold color, with a medium white head. Smells of some earth, spice, little candy sugar, and citrus fruit mixed. Not a bad aroma. The flavor was a little confused for my taste. It kind of was all over the place. One minute its spicy, the next its sweet, the next its funky, really had no flow to it. I didnt hate it, but wouldnt reach for another bottle again really. Just seems like another disappointing Ameerican try at a Belgian style ale. I really have been enjoying their anniversary beers, so this was a let down for me.

Appearance: Pours a clear, golden-orange body with an inch of frothy, white foam. Smell: Aroma of dried flower petals, leather, muscadines, strawberry jelly, spice-covered honeydew melons and, yes, even a handful of band aids. Taste: Belgian pils malt, lightly sweet. Melange of light fruit flavors. Splash of sauvignon blanc. Taste of antique leather in need of a long overdue cleaning. Herbal, mentholesque, Ricola-like flavor builds throughout. Hints of antiseptic-coated band aids. Spicy, citrusy hops with a decent bitterness that pairs with the Ricola and peppery hints. Pinch of white pepper (honest, I just read this on the bottle in between watching Back to the Future III. I’m not a huge fan of white pepper, particularly when used in potato dishes or soups). Finishes with a light funky tartness. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: An admirable attempt at using Brett, but it didn’t do it for me, especially with all those band aids in there. It certainly was no Fourteen (or Thirteen or Twelve).

22oz bomber-A golden body with a small tight head and an aroma of belgian yeast, fruit, and spices Taste of yeast, sourness, and on the back end a little funk. Not the best anniversary ale from Avery. In fact probably their worse.
