RoJoNo (14), Ohio, USA Jun 18, 2008 Draft at Mad Mex; I have a wide tolerance for all styles of beer, but this one fell outside my range with its sourness. I admire the spirit of experimentation behind it.

Excellent sour woody horseblanket aroma with still some base malt. Pale peach appearance under no foam--sort of like my pee when I’m dehydrated. Thin and weak flavour with some woody herbal spice. Very unimpressive and uncomplex. Some apple notes. Light body and clean with elevated carbonation. austone (447), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 9, 2008 Draught @ EBF. Golden, not much head. Slightly tart, white wine and cidery nose. Similar vinous flavor, mild sourness, alcohol, fruitiness. Very clean. Medium bodied, coarse carbonation. A spritzer made of pale lager. Madsnp (144), Odense C, Denmark Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a lasting small white head. Aromas of canned pineapple, yeast, farmyard and honey. The flavour is malty with notes of pepper and a sour finish. Brigadier (905), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Oct 8, 2008 22 oz bottle
For some reason I picked this up thinking that maybe Avery had changed their tune. I was fooled. As usual they released something with promise that only partially lived up to expectations. I’m not exactly clear what they were aiming for here. Whatever it was it is time to go back to the drawing board. Don’t waste your money in this one.
Aroma / Appearance - Rose gold in color with no light blocking ability it smelled of honey, white wine and graham crackers. The promised figs were evident after some introspection but not in the way I imagined. The trace of sourness did not seem intentional.
Flavor / Palate - Malty with a rye bread transition the biggest players in this were graham crackers, figs, and a sprinkling of white pepper. Fairly average in many ways this was enjoyable but nothing special. I feel as if Avery could have done something a little better for their fifteen birthday. Maybe in five years time they will get it right. kkearn (689), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours clear golden, capped with a moderate sized white head. Musty aroma, with wild yeast, apricot, and citrus. Aroma is very appealing. Dry, musty flavor, with white pepper, wild yeast, and floral notes. Finishes dry, with wild yeast. Pleasant surprise.
