COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

22 ounce bottle from, uhhh, some beer shop in the midwest somewher in June 2007, served a bit below cellar temperature NOT from a fucking Trappist glass as recommended here but from a plain ol’ Corsendonk Christmas Ale glass that is my go-to for such things, thank you very much. Quite the beautiful pour, light tan with caramel hints in the stable, meringue-like head that initially fills the glass, dissipating very very slowly atop a porter-like near-opaque molasses-brown/black body....thick, spidery-lattice lacing also results as the head decreases enough to attempt a....nosing, which is at first just huge resinous hops, lots of bitter orange and a bit of grapefruit; I look for development but there isn’t much besides light sugariness.....in the body, slightly more interest; it’s very, very sweet, sugary and Stone-like at first, that combination of thick hoppy juices and huge syrupy sugars that I often associate with the California brewery, but there’s a bit more interest in the molasses-brown sugar characteristic, as a bit of a burnt/tarry note creeps in, some caramel-butterscotch towards the finish, vanilla.....still all in all this is pretty dull and unconvincing, a hopped-up, syrupy-sweet, high-octane brown/amber ale that really isn’t terribly quaffable, and isn’t complex enough to merit sipping. Blah. I must admit that I am losing my taste for these sorts of things....

riversideAK (4381) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUL 3, 2007
Aroma is sweet mocha with a touch of pine from the hops. Pours almost black with a large tan head. Flavor is mostly the coffee sweetness, roastiness, some dried fruit. The hops come in on the backend with a nice piney burst. There is also some metallic notes in the finish. This to me wasnt nearly as complex as many others thought. There was also a touch of alcohol in the finish. Some nice warmth that I feel would be nice during a cold winter.

650 mL bottle. Dark brown with a big fluffy off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits. Furry slightly bright palate. Sweet molasses taste transitioning to a figgy sweetness with a slightly bitter and alcoholic finish.

Poured a mostly clear very dark amber color with a beige head. Spicy and smokey phenols in the aroma. Some choclate notes as well. The flavor is sweet, fruity, spicy and roasty. The body is medium to full with some alcohol warmth. Somewhat dry finish.

Bottle (650ml) shared with tupalev, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of jerc & mabel. Pours a murky deep ruby with an average size foamy somewhat-lasting tan head. Aroma of green hops, toasted malt, caramel, some alcohol and fruit. Flavour’s a little boozy with a weird but likable spicy/hoppy/sweet taste -- it’s hard for me to describe. Medium bodied. Not awesome but it is interesting and I did quite enjoy it.

Dark brown and lightly unclear. Has a light brown head, yellow notes. Dark, sweet aroma, with notes of grass, hay, real nice. Flavor is heavy sweet too. Lots of dark fruit. Texture is oily, full body.
