COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

I just don’t get this brewery. It’s hard to put my finger on exactly what is always my problem with their beers. The main problem, of course, is that they’re too sweet because they are brewing in such humongous quantities and don’t get great attenuation, I think. But beyond that, even the malt flavor itself is very simple and devoid of any suppleness/depth. Very hard mouthfeel. The hops are rarely pleasant either. Forceful, bittering hops are boring and simplified grapefruit/pine. Granted, with this one, I will admit there is some tropical fruit/pineapple flavor and aroma, but it’s pretty marginal when taken with the bitterness and sugariness. Washed out texture from excessive filtration and alcohol apparency to boot. These Anniversary beers should be small batch beers, or unfiltered or something. I just can’t take these things any more. Barely choked my glass down.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a moderate brown color with a little bit of a red hue to it. Off white head with a few streaks of lace. Nose brings forward a cacophony of different scents, including raisins, dark fruit, booze, roasted malt, and a bit of dark rum. Taste pulls everything together quite well, accentuating the dark fruits and some sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Drinks really well and glad to try it when I did a few months back. 22 oz bottle. Poured a clear deep reddish-brown color. Head was thick and light tan with good retention and lacing. Aroma was a combination of grassy hops, roasted nuts, and molasses. There were also occasional whiffs of anise, clove, and sassafras. Roasty and sweet up front with delicate acidity at the end accompanied by a touch of alcohol and lingering moderate hop bitterness. Overall, the alcohol flavor is minimal despite the almost 9.5% AbV. Malty molasses, toasted bread, and subdued clove round out the flavors. Not a bad beer.

From bottle@Københavnske Øldage 2009. Low, dense beige cream head. Opaque, dark brown body. Aroma is sweetish malty and hoppy. Some acidulous fruits, spices and roastedness. Sweet-flavored, rich roasted malty and distinct fruity, earthy and resinous hop bitter. Near full-bodied. Hoppy bitterness goes on in a long finish. Very good stuff, powerful and nicely balanced.

Bottle, RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Dark brown colour, tan head. Malty and oaky aroma. The flavour is very malty, too sweet and alcoholic for me.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2008 Bomber thanks to Steven. Pours a dark brown with a nice light brown head. The aroma is mostly sweet caramel and fruits. The initial judgment was that this beer is much like a good Belgian Strong Ale; dark fruit, sweet candy, some alcohol and nutty aspects. But, this beer really can change, and it show a strong bitter hops at times. Wow! I really liked this one. Perfectly balanced and so complex.

Very belgian-style aromatics with a complex roasty spicy head. Excellent beer with just a wonderful complex taste. One of my current favorites, just great!

The aroma has pleanty of hops, with fruit, buble gum, spices, and roasted malt. The appearance is dark brown with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with alcohol and herbs making quite a statement. The palate is smooth. This is good.
