COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

This was a very strange beer. It was dark black with a tan whip-cream-like head. The smell made me think chocolate. The taste followed suit but had some real hoppiness going on. Sorta grassy, piney, and almost like chocolate mints. This beer was tasty but very complex. It felt like my taste buds were being assaulted! Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-22-2007 15:51:34

This starts with a strong hoppy nose, with just a hint of vanilla sweetness hiding in the background. It pours black, with red highlights visible when held up to the light. It has a thin tan head that fades quickly, but leaves good lacing on the glass. The flavor is interesting... it has a strong dark fruit flavor, balanced with bitter hops, which fade into a sweet fruit finish. An interesting beer, which will most likely age into a fairly complicated barleywine flavor... I’ll let you know after I open some that have aged...

The label ain’t kidding when it said it was a very dark ale! Some glimmer or ruby when held to the light, otherwise one dark muther. Good head and lacing. Nose is dark fruit and woody hops. Taste- wow- very complex. Its tought to sort out all that’s going on there. The hops are present more in the back end- definitely quite hoppy from an aftertaste. The rich malts are in the drivers seat here. Tons of dark fruits, leather, some choclate tones. quite spicy, but not boozy. Very enjoyable. I wish I had a second bottle to contemplate all that’s going on with this brew. Avery has made an adventurous tasty offering. happy 14th!

From the bottle which is topped with gold foil to the bubbling aroma, this is a very nice beer. Not as dark as a porter, but close, distinct hoppiness, yet not bitter. Avery is above average, and this is one of their best. Most likely limited, so find a bottle before it’s gone.

Bottle. Dark red with chocolate colored head. Aromas of molasses, raisins, figs, and alcohol. Tastes of bitter chocolate (mocha) and coffee with a thick lasting mouthfeel. A very good beer that we will drink again.

Picked up 22-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear dark brown brew with a thick, creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted nuts, cotton candy, chocolate and tart/dark pitted fruit. Taste is slightly tart with chocolate, caramel and flowery hop flavors. Palate is medium bodied, smooth and almost a barleywine character beverage. Nice aftertaste of ripe citrus and vanilla.

22 oz bomber. Yeah I love this company. Once again Avery delivers with a unique ber for unique people. Pours an almost solid black with a large light brown frothy head that begs to be drank. Big citrus hop aroma with lots of chocolate in the background, slight pine but mostly an alcohol orange chocolate come to mind as I sniff this beauty. Body is solid with noticable carbonation on the back of my throat a quickly disipating palate and a medium body. Flavor of grapefruit, chocolate, malt, raisin bread and alcohol. Despite my horrible description this is one decent beer!! Go try some for something different for something that works!!
