22 oz bottle pours a dak chestnut body with a fluffy beige head. Incredible aroma of orange, spices, bubblegum, dark roasted malts, chocolate, cherries, and floral hops. Wow! Taste is bold. Pine and floral hop bitterness combine with fruits, spices, chocolate and caramel notes. Interesting, to say the least. A little bit of several styles at work here. Surprisingly, it works very well.

Bottle. Sweet resinous hops on the nose. Dark dry roasted malt. A tad soapy. Dried fruits. Coffee. Alcohol. Pours dark, oily brown with deep amber highlights. Very sticky lacing all the way down the glass. Big flavor profile: lots of hops and malt. Fairly dry. molasses. Floral hops turn piny as it warms. Big, rich and slightly oily on the palate. A very big and complex beer, but perhaps a tad unbalanced. Less alcohol presence and more integrated flavors and this bad boy would score in the mid 4’s.

Bottle. This beer was all over the scale for me as evident bye my ratings. So many different things going on in this one. Very strong smells of sweet coffee, molasses, florist shop / dentist office. Interesting flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, sweet molasses, hops, and some metalic flavors. Intriguing.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of roastiness and molasses and hop notes of resin and orange with a light dough aroma and raisin, cherry, smoke and plenty of alcohol in the background. It has a frothy light brown head with excellent lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is a murky brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic and finishes moderately bitter and a bit acetic and salty. Palate is medium and texture actually feels oily and dry at the same time. The carbonation is fizzy and finishes astingent, alcoholic and very dry. Balance in both aroma and taste is what does it for me with this beer.

Bottle. Aroma of sweet malt / raisins, caramel, tropical fruit, and citrus. Flavor is similar to the smell, but with some hints of chocolate and a light roasted / toasted finish. Very tasty beer.

22oz bottle courtesy of ckeegan04 poured into a tulip.
Pours a dark, opaque brown with a big creamy tan head that shows excellent retention and leaves some gorgeous lacing down the sides of the glass.
The aroma surprisingly still features a good bit of citrus hops up front but they’ve definitely given way to the hefty dark toasted malt backbone. Lots of dark fruit, chocolate and a bit of roasted coffee.
The taste is even sweeter with a lot of caramelized brown sugar pairing up with the dark chocolate malts to form a hefty backbone. The hops are not as prevalent as in the aroma though there’s some orange zest up front before the sweet roasty malts kick in. The finish is slightly dry with more than a hint of booze and a slightly chalky toasted character through the aftertaste.
The body is fairly full with strong carbonation and sticky with molasses clinging to the tongue alongside the roasty bitterness.
This is a very good beer and one of the better efforts from Avery as far as I’m concerned. Very flavorful with tons of different things going on but coming together fairly well in the end.
