What an oustanding beer, opaque color, very dark brown, couldn’t see through the glass, modest tan head with great lacing, very sweet nose with notes of honey & molasses, lots of body, certainly more of a sipping beer, one to be enjoyed, rich & complex flavors, a hint of dry & hoppy notes to add balance, flavors of honey, molasses, caramel & burnt toast, bitter & hoppy finish with more malt to follow, a fantastic brew

I always look forward to the new anniversary release from Adam Avery. He makes big beers, and doesn’t shy away from experimentation. I respect that. The meek need not apply. This one pours dark brownish ruby with a 2-finger khaki head and tons of lacing. The aroma is heavily piney hoppy, with a smattering of spicy and floral notes, plus a solid dose of roasty scotchy malt and chocolate syrup. The flavor is rich, very chocolatey malty, with a huge resiny hop bill. The palate is hefty, does get a tad hot toward the finish, yet does seem to smooth out a bit. This one at times reminded me of both Alpha Klaus and Gonzo, and that duo is great to be reminded of. I think 2 parts Gonzo, 2 parts Alpha Klaus, and 1 part Rogue chocolate stout would approximate this one very closely. This is an excellent beer that you need to acquire now!

Pours thick, like motor oil in January. Opaque black with a thick tan head with medium legs. Nose of hops and chocolate. This thing look delicious just pouring....tastes of hops and choc but subdued by the body of malts and spices. A bit of alcohol on the taste but just a perfect amount. Smooth mouth and swallow with a wonderful, almost gooey thickness on the way down. This is a wonderful beer. It reminds me of the Collaboration. Will it cellar????

Aroma is very hoppy, with scents of fresh hops coming right of the bottle upon opening. Color is a deep ruby amber with good carbonation and a thick, tight, tan head. Taste is bold, piney and roasted. Starting with a full body it goes down with a some what sharp feel that leads you to think it is going to be rich. Finish burst out of this with a citrus hop flavor that has a bold pine flavor coming out. All of this turns to a full bitterness then somehow morphs into a roasted malt flavor that leaves you with an almost coffee like taste. I feel this may be the most complexly flavored beer they have done. It seems to change flavors as you drink it and is bold and rich yet easy to drink. The more I drink the more I like it. This is just an amazing beer.

Pours very dark brown, with a few shades of amber in the thinner parts of the glass. Head is a rich, frothy pillowed layer that lasts a long time. Lace coats the entire rim, almost like one of those Nitro pints of Guinness would. Nose is somewhat clean, grassy, fruity (banana?), and dessert spices. Palate is a big malt with Dunkel-Weizen like fruit in the there, with some of the banana clove that you would normally expect from a dunkel-weizen or possibly weizenbock. Rich malt flavors mix well the alcohol warmth and tangy hops on the finish. Walnuts, raisins, and a suggestion of dark rum can be found as well. This is a very, very interesting beer to consider as it is tasted. Very complex and hard to pinpoint the exact flavors.

Excellent. Pours a very dark reddish amber. The head is so smooth and tight that you need to let this one sit to get the full aroma. Once the aroma comes through it is very deep. Hints of molasses, plenty of fruit, carmel, slight chocolate, slight smoke, and I want to say roasted nuts? Massive and complex flavor. Smoke, light fruit, carmel, sugar, and molasses. Finish is nice and dry. No doubt this was dry hopped by the lingering bitter finish. Sticky on the lips. Once of the best i’ve had from avery.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown, with a big, tan fluffy head. Prominent bands of lacing on the glass. Big plum aroma. Caramel, licorice, molasses. Fairly hoppy. Some nice chocolate. Pretty cool. Dried fruit flavors, with a rich brown sugar taste. Licorice, molasses, fig, nutmeg, and a nice spicy mouthfeel. Simply delicious. Bitter finish, and well-balanced. Surprisingly easy drinking. A very unique beer, and was definitely surprised by this one.

Flaske. Fantastisk flot sort øl. Kraftig duft af humle, men på den helt rigtige mouthwatering måde. Smagen er ikke så bitter som de foregående DIPA men er så meget mere balanceret. Ønskede bare at drikke mere.
