TheCheeseMan (513), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2007 Pours a deep, rich brown. Head is light tan and thick, holding on for quite some time. Aroma is beguiling. Candi sugar, pie spices, cedar notes, licorice, dark brown sugar. Flavor is on the sweet side, but does have a hop punch to try and bring some balance to this brew. Very odd, yet I seem to enjoy it.
fiver29 (305), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle pours black with a slight amount of light passing through. Has a thin off white head. Aromas are malty with a slight hop aroma. Mouthfeel is is medium with a stinging sensation from the carbonation. Taste is mainly malt upfront with a slight hop presence on the finish. Overall this is not a bad brew. I had the chance to try one fresh about a year ago and it had a lot more hop aroma to it and hop flavor. Its aged somewhat well over the past year. I rate it on the merits of the two I’ve tried. Overall this is a fine brew. It was better fresh. rocbyter (638), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Aug 19, 2008 Strong malt aroma with a moderate amount of hops. Super dark amber or brown with a medium dark tan head. Strong sweet malt beginning with a strong malt and bitter finish. Creamy palate. redlight (1048), Winter Park, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 I’ve had this young and now rating it after its aged some. Chocolatey malty aroma, i remember the fresher bottle having a lot more hops in the nose. Pours very dark brown with a dense tan head that lasts with thick lacing. Strong malt flavors with strong chocolate and cola like flavors with a somewhat hoppy finish. The younger bottle definitely had stronger hop flavors, but this is really good too. It’s very smooth. joshwilfong (518), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2008 dark brown with large tan head. flavor initially of some possible chocolate malt and fig sweetness, a lot of hop bitterness and some yeasty funk. a lot of flavors and they dont necessarily mesh perfectly, but flavorful and solid overall robforbes (736), Bremerton, Washington, USA Aug 16, 2008 bottled in 2007.
