COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Freckles is a saison brewed by one of Avery’s for a celebration of his marriage to a lightly freckled beer loving wife. This beer is a saison brewed with rose hips, tart cherries, and a touch our sweet orange peel, fermented with a belgian saison yeast strain.

December 30th, 2011 - Brewed in honor of a marriage between beer lovers, the Freckles Saison from Avery promises to be a sweet treat. While I would traditionally reserve the sweet sip for last, our beer tasting group proceeded in an order loosely based around color. That, and someone exclaimed "I WANT THAT ONE NEXT", and with that comment, chaos trumped order. The aroma is richly yeasty, like the inside of a French patisserie, and features notes of pumpkin, sourdough and even a bit of sweet frosting. The flavor is sweeter still, moulded around a core of sweet, ripe apple, and decorated with ribbons of caramel and a long, lingering aftertaste that is hard to describe, but tastes most like roasted, baked cherry pie - a delicious beer, and one that would have made a wonderful conclusion to the beer day. However, we soldier on to even more Avery brews.

Fruity nose with an opaque hold color. Fruity, peppery, and bright, you’d never know it is 8%

tap. cloudy copper. creamy and smooth texture when cold but develops typical Avery coarseness when warm. medium-full body, a bit too syrupy and sweet, herbal, floral and caramel-heavy, and yes, goopy. medium acid, medium hop bitterness, noble hop flavor character. caramel and reduced soured apricot flavors. faint caramel / floral nose. fuller than any saison should be. cherries are evident, giving it medium tartness and a light sour cream sourness. rose hips indistinct.

On tap @ Avery. Hazy light brownish orange with a tight creamy light beige head, with loads of lace. Big nose of banana and barley wheat with a sugary estery yeasty tone. Flavor is quite smooth and wheaty sweet. Citrusy fruity tones back up with a slightly spicy yeast funk. Pretty nice but nothing out of the ordinary

Draft at Avery Taphouse. Pours amber with a thin white head. You definitely get the saison vibe on the tongue bur also the sour cherry and a floral thing as well. I’m sad that one’s only available here.

On tap at Avery, poured hazy yellowish orange with nice white head. Aroma presented with notes of orange, lemon, caramel, some biscuit, light spices, other red fruit and a touch of floral in there. Taste is a really nice balance of flavors but I wish more of the rose come out, some nice fruity cherry, lemon, orange, touch of pear and apricot, balanced well by spice, toffee, and some biscuit and a hint of floral bitterness, finished dry. Nice brew!

Tap. Pours hazy brown with a medium creamy light tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is brown sugar, caramel and cookie malt, dates, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is malt dominant, Belgian yeast, sweet palate with a dry finish, notes of dates and fruity esters. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation.

Tap @ Avery. Amber orange appearance with a creamy off-white head. Earthy hoppy, orange citrusy, light barnyard, light funk, peppery, belgian yeasty nose. Light pepper, orange citrusy, mild barnyard, belgian yeasty flavor. Not bad.
