On tap at brewery. Pours a brownish copper color with a small light tan colored head. Sweet boozy aroma with a very strong barrel presence. Lots of toasted oak and sweet whiskey. Rich full flavors. Nice lightly smoked character with nice bitter hops and bitter coffee, but balanced with a rich sweet malt, ripe plums along with notes of carmel and toffee. Mouthfeel has a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.

Deep hazy red orange in appearence. There is a light smokey meat aroma with some malty notes. And then...you taste the beer. Holy Awesome Smokey Beer Batman. Fantastic full palate that remains crisp and clean. TOP NOTCH!!!

Avery tap room. Reddish pour with no head but still nice carbonation. Aroma of smoked Bacon, maple syrup, whisky and wood. Smooth mouthful. Flavor is excellent as well. This beer should be a full breakfast, not a beer. Fuckin awesome.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a small off white creamy froth head. Aroma is nicely balanced with both the aggressive smokey character and a sweet oaky woody note that both play well off of one another, there is some light nuttiness, vanilla. Flavor is even better with the smoke and wood really bursting, the vanilla and some almond nuttiness coming out more. I dig the way all of the flavors play together, finishing smooth and rich. Medium to medium full body and a soft carbonation. Very nice smoked

Draft at the tasting room. Pours a dark chocolate brown color that is completely opaque with dark mahogany edges and a two finger frothy off white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. Sweet boozy aroma with a very strong barrel presence. Lots of toasted oak and sweet whiskey. Underneath thre is a nice smoked malt presence with hints of BBQ, ash, bacon, chocolate, toffee and oatmeal. Medium bodied with an excellent balance of smokey malt and sweet boozy spirit/earthy oak barrel character. Sweet up front with lots of tasted oak and vanilla which tone down the sweet booze. Nice whiskey flavor that is strong but not overpowering allowing the other notes to shine through. Nice amount of smoke underneath with burnt toast, charcoal, BBQ, bacon, grilled meat and chocolate. Very complex with subtle heat at end and warmth in the chest but overall the ABV is decently masked. Awesome!

Clear brownish color with not much head. Aroma of sweet malts and mild smoke. Taste was quite sweet, with a nice complimentary smoke flavor. Very doppelbock...with smoke. Medium-full body. Good, but I prefer smoked porters and stouts...

Tap @ the brewery. Pours beautiful redbrown with a little offwhite head and with small bubbles heading for the surface. Aroma of smoke, caramel, oakk, vanilla. Taste is smoke first and foremost, then fruit like apples, oak, whiskey, caramel, vanilla, and some alchohol. Medium body, soft lively carbonation. Very good one. 270211

On tap at Avery. Smokey, caramel malt and oaky nose. Bourbon isn’t really prevalent. Reminds me a lot of Tommyknocker’s Oaked Butt Head Bock, but with a lot of added smokiness. Smoke flavor is really strong on the first couple of sips but fades quickly and gives away to the oak and standard full bodied ale flavor. Good, probably not something you’d have more than one of.
