Draft at HalfCut. Pours a totally clear orange-amber with a small off-white head that settles into a small ring. Big, spicy aroma - nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, sweet and caramel and toasted malt, and a bit of pumpkin. The flavor is a little mellower than the nose, which is fine, and it hits all the same note. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a spicy, earthy mouthfeel. Good, easy-sipping pumpkin ale. An alternative to a lot of the higher-boost ones out there these days.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has some pumpkin, spices, with some pie crust, with the spices coming through more prominent than the rest. The flavor is more pie crust and less pumpkin and spices, a splash of caramel. Just ok.

Draft sample. Poured clear orange copper with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sweet spice and pumpkin aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium smooth pumpkin flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Pint on tap at Dutch’s. Clear amber red color. Thin off-white head, leaving good thicker ridges of lace. Medium body. Good full mouthfeel. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Nice toasty malt, mild pumpkin spice, good bigger pumpkin, really nice. Decent amount of hop, not intrusive, but provides a nice light to moderate bitter balance, light to moderate sweet. Pretty damn nice easy-drinking pumpkin ale. Great balance to the flavor and taste, and a satisfying amount of big real pumpkin flavor. Seems to be lighter on the pumpkin-spice, thankfully.

Tap from Lazy Dog Macon. Pours orange with white head. Aroma of a mild pie and pumpkin. Taste of very mild spices, dough and gourd. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Not good at all. Give this one a pass.

On tap @ Avery during PumpKYn release. Pours a clear burnt orange appearance with a cream colored head. The aroma is very spicy- vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove- along with some caramel and pumpkin in the background. Slightly thin body. Moderately bitter and herbal. Pretty nice pumpkin flavor again with lots of clove, vanilla, and nutmeg. I like the hops. Actually, a pretty good pumpkin beer.

Draft at the tasting room. Small flight glass. Pours an amber-orange with a moderate head. Aroma is not as potent as many pumpkin/gourd beers I’ve had. Some pie spice, pumpkin, and burnt toast. Taste was also underwhelming with some very mild pumpkin pie spice, dough, gourd. Medium body, light carb. Not the best.

Draft at Snallygaster 2014. Poured a brown color with a small white head. Aroma was cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet malts, with some light gourd notes. Flavor was about the same, a bit stronger in the pie than the pumpkin. Not bad though, better than Avery’s other pumpkin beer.

Pumpkin pie, same as every other pumpkin beer. Pours red, finishes slimy. Tap at Snallygaster.
