Bottle to snifter. Copper red pour with a creamy sticky off white head that lingers and leaves some noticable lacing. Aroma is piny hops and sugary malts with some caramel too. Taste is awesome bitter pine and sugary caramel malts with a little fruit too. Palate is medium and sicky with some gritty chaulkiness and finishes dry. Really awesome take on a barley wine!

My favorite fresh Barleywine to crack open. Hoppy as all get out, but smooth and coupled with a Cinnabon soul, this big-ass beer serves as a dual malt/hop-bomb. The hops are citric, but slathered in brown sugar cookie malt heaven, pun possibly intended, and their bitterness serves as a needed balance to the liquor finish. Any bonuses that might be gained by aging this bottle will be offset by the bountiful fresh citric hop goodness that accompanies fresh Hog Heaven. (9/08)

A near perfect barley wine. I loved this. If you ever want some to try a barley wine for the first time, give them this one. It’s friendly. Smells sweet and strong. Caramel and grapefruit. Tastes much the same. I love the dry finish. I’d like to age this a bit. Fantastic.

It poured an amber color with a little white head. The aroma was of candy, malts, fruits and caramel. The taste was most of the same with the addition of some minor spices. A very good barley wine.

Bottle: Pours a hazy caramel color with a finger of creamy khaki head. Luscious aroma of sweet caramel malt, citrus, pine, and a slight bit of tea. Taste is hop forward with citrus, pine, and florals. Has a nice herbal, earthy element that I’d associate mostly with iced tea. Blends well with the malty background. More please.

Hazy red brown with good, creamy, tan head / Sweet nose of pine, caramel, and citrus / Full body, moderately sweet but offset by good, biting, hops, with excellent balance and long, sweet & bitter finish / Flavors of cut pine, caramel, grapefruit, orange, and resin / A near perfect barleywine. Should age well.

Aroma is slightly sweet with suprisingly floral hoppy aroma. Dark amber body with a slightly frothy head that sticks around. Nice hop punch to begin with that melts into a carmel malt finish. Palate is full bodied with a creamy texture. Carbonation is slightly fizzy with a long finish. Overall the best barleywine I have tried so far.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheRealMGD (356) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - APR 5, 2011
UPDATED: APR 6, 2011 Bomber. Clear amber pour with a short beige head and minimal lace. Pine hops, candy malt and alcohol in the nose. Medium body has pine and grapefruit hops, caramel malt, walnuts, and a dry, bitter, boozy finish. At one point in the glass it reminded me of a lesser version of Bigfoot, but that lessened as the glass warmed. Also has a great deal in common with some of the less hop-forward IIPAs like Anderson Valley’s 20th Anniversary.
