Commercial Description:
This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover's delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficionados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

Pours a brownish-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes thinly, and leaves some streams of lacing. Aroma is intense hops - grapefruit, pineapple, some apricot - alongside some caramel malts. Taste is some piney hoppiness that isn’t very bitter. Smooth moutfeel with a slight malt backbone. Not as malty as some other Barley Wines, but also not as bitter as a Bigfoot. Top notch and very approachable Barley Wine!

Bomber - Pours a cloudy dark amber in color with a small off-white head that hung around. Some really nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is quite hoppy... citrusy and resinous and nice... some malty undertones. Flavor is also quite hoppy (spice and citrus) with a decent amount of malt understructure that reduces the bite of the hops. Alcohol is not apparent. Finish is all about the hops... bitter and lingering. Needs a bit more balance to be a really goo BW, but for me the hops is just an added attraction.

Attractive caramel ruddy pour with a bubbly finger thick tan head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Sweet malty, caramel and toffee nose with a decent amount of pineapple as well. The flavor is a bit more mellow, with toffee in the front to mid palate and finishing with a decent dose of hop spiciness. Definitely more of an American style BW.

Bottle. It pours a reddish-golden body under a beige head. Hop driven aroma with pinecones, resin and a tiny fluorine touch. Not much maltyness to report. The flavor is maltier, with sweetness and beefstock to give some balance to the piney, resiny hops. Getting quite bitter towards the finish. Full-bodied. Lasting bitter finish. A lovely one-hour beer, quite challenging, but not to the extreme. (081031)

Deguster au Mondial de la biere. La presence du houblon est assertive violente. Sucrer et un peu sirupeuse avec une touche d alcool. Tasted at the Mondial de la Biere. Assertive and violent aroma and bitterness from hops. Kinda sweet and a bit syrupy with an alcohol warming sensation.

22oz bottle. Dark orangish color with a little white head. Nice little hoppy aroma, some malt sweetness in the backround. Smooth malty flavor with some good hop bitterness. Nice and well balanced too. Good stuff.

Bottle from Frugal McDugal. Pours amber orange with an off white head and webby lacing. Aroma of sweet rich caramelly malts and fruity esters- simple but nice. Medium bodied, but not sticky or syrupy like some barleys- this is almost ASA in mouthfeel. Flavor of wet grains, caramelized sugar, and toffee countered buy just enough non-aggressive grapefruit bitterness to keep in balance. Warming finish, but not hot or with fusels. Nothing overly complex here, but what I like is that it is simple and easier to drink- somewhat in the British vein.
