Commercial Description:
This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover's delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficionados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

Sample from Durham WBF. I’m still not sure I see the point of these hoppy-ass American barleywines. This is big, sticky, and hoppy. Aroma is all hops with some malt. Orange/amber pour; not much head. Very floral hop quality. Needs age, perhaps? Over the top for my palate.

Meeting at DØ, Aarhus Syd, DK. Bottled, 151008. Copper with small head. Aroma of grapefruit, spruce and some malt. Flavor is caramel and lots of hop spices - citrus and grass. Alcholic note

[Fresher bottle] Pours a slightly hazy dark red orange with a nice creamy off-white fluff on top. Sweet aroma of piney and citric hops, rich lightly toasted caramel malt, ambrosia/fridge. I must admit this is an excellent american strong, really nice balance. Sweet lightly toasted caramel malts, not overly sticky, toasted or too sweet. Juicy citrus and earthy pine in perfect balance. Very flavorful without being over the top. A bit of cedar. The finish is great too, very clean with the sweetness dropping off quickly and the bitterness hanging around. Medium body, just full enough without being sticky at all, large but very soft carbonation, extremely quaffable. Balance is the key here.

22 Ouncer from Hi-Times. I have only had 5-6 in this style, so my assessment might be biased for now. Nice dark copper pour. Nose of caramel, candied fruit, heavy but pleasant hops. Flavor profile is a great balance between the hop charge and the sweet candied fruit and caramel. Extremely consistent with the nose. Finishes sweet, but the hops linger perfectly. As has been mentioned, the 9.2% definitely creeps up on you because you wouldn’t know it even without aging.

Bomber. Pours a hazy brownish copper with little head except for some froth at the edge of the glass. Aroma of piney/citrusy hops, caramel, dough, and sugar. Hops up front on this one with a nice bitter surge, sweet dried fruits and caramel, then fading to a sweeter finish with some occasional bitter notes. Very smooth for 9.2%. Leaves an attractive white lacing on the glass. I bet this would be good in a few years as well.
