| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 25, 2008 22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy to murky orange with a lacing orange head. Dry woody and liqourice like hops aroma, solid. Flavour is subdued sweet at first and followed by a dry woody and liqourice pinehops flavour. Somewhat too brutal yet not without a certain inviting tastyness to it. Ends dry and bitter, lingering liqourice and wooden notes. Lacks some refinement - somewhat too brutal. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 25, 2008 Red brown colour. Light brown head. A light smell of glue. Sweet and sticky. Some hoppiness in the end. After little warming some grapefruit in the taste. Fresh grass in the nose. Some bite of hop in the end. Rciesla (3580), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2008 Pours a completely clear, reddish-gold body with a small, foamy, cream colored head. The nose is intensely hopped, with as aggressive a grapefruit profile as you are likely to find. Sharp citrus notes surprisingly dominate the sweet, caramel maltiness that lies beneath. Buttery toffee makes a strong push as it warms, but never quite reaches a balancing point. Likewise, flavors are intensely hoppy and bitter, almost to the point of being excessively astringent. Grapefruit and bitter orange tip the scales in their direction, with toffee and caramel struggling to keep pace on the other end. Medium-full bodied, the finish is a bit too hot for my liking. I can see this improving with some age, but as it is, this is not one of my favorite barley wines. Needs a re-visit on an older bottle. wickedpete (626), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2008 (Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-05-15) Dark amber colour. Bit hazy. White medium-sized head. Lots of malts and Finnish Easter pudding in nose. Full and dryish palate. Finnish Easter pudding in taste, too. Hardly any sweetness at all, surprising. Hops begin to taste stronger when beer got warmer. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 15, 2008 (Bottled) Slightly hazy dark amber with a smallish, bubbly head. Extremely grainy-malty aroma with strawberry and ashy hints. "Pale rye-pudding" flavor with a huge amount of malt, hefty dose of hops - and still its not sweet. Quite an accomplishment! Quite full-bodied with low carbonation. Definitely among the best barley wines out there.
