Commercial Description:
This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover's delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficionados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

Amber body, frothy white head. Strong hop aroma. Bitter malty flavor, not very sweet. Very thick body, almost pasty.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-05-15) Dark amber colour. Bit hazy. White medium-sized head. Lots of malts and Finnish Easter pudding in nose. Full and dryish palate. Finnish Easter pudding in taste, too. Hardly any sweetness at all, surprising. Hops begin to taste stronger when beer got warmer.

(Bottled) Slightly hazy dark amber with a smallish, bubbly head. Extremely grainy-malty aroma with strawberry and ashy hints. "Pale rye-pudding" flavor with a huge amount of malt, hefty dose of hops - and still its not sweet. Quite an accomplishment! Quite full-bodied with low carbonation. Definitely among the best barley wines out there.

Blatantly hoppy for a barley wine, hoppy and fruity aroma. Didnt take any notes for this one but I do remember a lot of peach and hop bitterness. Delicious late night sipper

Amber of color with a nice huge orange head. An aroma of malt, hops and liqurice aroma. A flavor of malt, hops, grapefruit and liqurice notes.

Served @ Brickskeller’s Lupulin Reunulin event. Pours an orange-burgundy color; light khaki head with patchy, fine-bubbled lacing. Solid amounts of earthy and mineral hops, red-ale maltiness, and cantaloupe in the aroma; a touch watery. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: red-ale / caramel maltiness; again, oddly watery and lacking viscosity; tea-like tannins and earthy hops; odd, disappointing barleywine. Medium finish: tea, fruitiness, and some lingering hop dryness.

A dark amber beer with a small light tan head that laces well. Sweet aroma with notes of dark red apple. Flavor starts off really smooth and malt and transforms to a cascade bitter hop finish. It’s really a pleasurable experience to partake in this beverage. Flavor has a dark red apple peel flavor note as well. Mouthfeel is medium but on the thick side, and frothy as well. Finish is heavy, malty, and a little less hoppy all at the same time. The %content is neigh noticable; this could be dangerous.

Bomber. Poured hazy orange with a white head. Smells sweet with some cinnamon and licorice notes. Somewhat hoppy, but a bit shallow. The flavor was good up front, but really lacked in the back of the palate. Sort of shallow and one dimensional. Medium bodied, some alcohol. Smells much better and more complex than it is.
