Bottle. Hazy brownish amber pour with a small off-white head that quickly shrinks to wispy surface cover. Big, sweet hoppy nose has notes of toffee, grapefruit, lime, pine, lavender and bubblegum. Flavour is a little less sweet than the aroma and is balanced with some substantial bitterness, otherwise extremely close to aroma. Relatively thick, oily mouthfeel with low carbonation and a long bitter finish. This is a very nice beer, although it is well balanced the hops and the sweetness are both cranked right up, so much so that it would have been very easy for this to be an absolute mess, but as it is it’s very good. I would love to see what it’s like with some age on it though.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 DrinkEmUpJones (539) - Georgia, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Clear orange yellow color with thick and pillowy white head. An herbacious and grassy aroma flows out of the glass but is not over the top. Crisp and clean palate that has nice hop overtones. Great spring beer.

Bomber. Color is dark ruby red and burnt orange with off-white head. Aroma is a potent mix of caramel, grapefruit, floral hops and cannabis resin. The taste starts out with a heavy dose of resinous hops, brown sugar, toasted malts and ruby red grapefruit. After that it’s mostly pine, dried mango, maple syrup and alcohol flavors. The body is syrupy with mild carbonation an aggressively bitter, citrus finish along with a slight alcohol punch. The dry-hopping characteristics paired with the sweet caramel malt notes give it an enjoyable flavor that’s halfway between a Barley Wine and a Double IPA.

Pours medium brown, with moderate carbonation. Lots of flavor, but not quite so overdone as most barley wines. Very well balanced between malt and hops. Although dry hopped, it does not have that extra hop aroma that you normally get with dry hopping. Still not a beer that I would reach for on anything but a very occassional basis, but that’s more a result of this style just being too much for my preference. Among barley wines, I thinks it one of the more enjoyable.
