Spliffy (55), Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA Mar 20, 2007 Hoppy Caramel goodness. Well balanced with the high ABV and a light mouth to it. High Five!!!!! Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Mar 17, 2007 2006 vintage, from bomber. Pours into my snifter a clear orange amber with a khaki head. Interesting nose - malty, with sweet orange, caramel , mild grass and light brown sugar. Flavor starts mildly citrus bitter, then gives way to a nice, sweet malt and orange. Some grass and biscuit-like notes. The finish is surprisingly honeylike with some orange citrus hints. Very nice! tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Mar 4, 2007 citrus, fruity aroma. Appearance is a cloudy copper/red. Flavor is suprisingly bland. Especially compared to other barley wines, like Monster Ale. No lingering finish either. One thing i do note is that for a 9% ABV, the alcohol is well hidden. The mouth feel is thin, but a little oily. Not bad, but I won’t actively seek this one out again. jackson220 (136), new lenox, Illinois, USA Mar 3, 2007 NICE BoTTle....cool name hahaha...The color is extremely nice copper reddish and the head is creamy and hangs around. The aroma is wonderful and power packed with hops. The mouth feel is oily, and long lasting, flavour is deliciously bitter with notes of caramel sweetness, fruit, citrus and, well hops, they really hop. A truly very nice Barley Wine...and I love good Barleywines ...ask anyone waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Mar 2, 2007 bottle. bourbon color with nice clarity and off white frothy head. pine hops and citrus aroma. smooth and bitter. alcohol well hidden. citrus, hops and sweet malt backing. pine and earth. Definately more of an IIPA than a barley wine. mike likes to boogie. michael-pollack (2601), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 1, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Aroma is pretty bitter. Smells strongly of hops with notes of grass, resin, pine, and a little grapefruit. Very nice aroma. Poured a deep amber color with a medium, rocky, tan head that lasted throughout. Great lacing. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is heavily bitter but not sweet or sour. Tastes strongly of hops. Notes of pine, grass, and hop oil. Medium body. Average carbonation. Long bitter finish. Overall, very good. Seems more like an IIPA than a Barley Wine. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Feb 28, 2007 Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of citrus and pine hops, caramel, dark friuts, and alcohol. Flavor is strong of citrus and pine hops that gave way to the sweet malts and caramel. Finishes with some alcohol warming. Different from other barley wines I’ve had but it’s still very delicious. Cliff (355), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA Feb 28, 2007 2006 Bottle, poured a murky dark amber color with a thin, fleeting head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, slight smoke and piney hops. I was expecting more of a DIPA based on previous ratings, but this bottle has been aging for about 6 months so maybe that has mellowed them out. Rich flavor, malty and thick with an excellent piney earthy hop flavor that goes well with the caramel smoky sweetness. Thich viscious mouthfeel that coats everything. Got much better as it warmed, took me about 75 minutes to drink the entire bomber. A bit of alcohol warmth, but not to much that it makes is hot. Lasting finish that lingers across the entire palate. A truely delicious beer.
