smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA Feb 18, 2007 bottle from Mellow Mushroom in Brandon - amber head - disapating quickly - carmel, hoppy , citrus, bitter, sweet and pretty strong alcohol finish. Pretty decent Barleywine!
zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Feb 18, 2007 At the 2nd Annual Hell With The Lid Off Barley Wine Festival at Kelly’s Bar in East Liberty, Pittsburgh. Amber, thin white head. Aroma is candied caramel, grass, malt. Flavor is malt, grass, fruit, quite mellow. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Feb 17, 2007 The color was golden/amber. The head was thin, fizzy, and white. The aroma was very fruity/citrisy, and alcoholy. It smelled like an ipa as far as hoppyness goes. The flavor was alcohol, friuty, hoppy, and bitter. The palate was smooth and the finish, bitter/warm. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Feb 17, 2007 Poured an orange amber with a thin offwhite head that goes away quickly. The aroma smells like an Imperial IPA, sweet, caramel, citrusy hoppy. Definitely an American Barley Wine, which I’m not a fan of due to the high hop content. The flavor was bitter and waxy hop, tastes like an impy ipa too, there was a slight sweetness and alcohol too. The palate was waxy and bitter and the finish was warming and bitter. Not the best barley wine i’ve had but still pretty good, probably wouldnt get it again but if you like hops, especially dry hop, this is for you. mantishead (12), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Feb 13, 2007 Scary good beer. This one will get you in trouble. Readily available. Seemed to taste better when a bit warmer than my coller kept it. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 9, 2007 2006 Bomber. (Has the "A" on the neck wrap.) Beer is clear, medium-dark reddish brown with a small, off-white, frothy head. Diminishes rapidly into a frothy ring and skirt on the glass.

The hops send out a landing party with heavy notes of resin/pine, grapefruit oil, light note of lemon; Malty with light notes of toasted grain, caramel, shortbread; Yeasty with a light note of basement, trace of dough; Light-to-moderate miscellaneous notes of rubber, raw wood; sorry to say it, traces of spoiled vegetation popping up from time to time.

The flavor is moderately sweet, light-to-moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is long, warm, moderately-fading-to-lightly bitter, lightly sweet, Slightly soapy, salty aftertaste.

The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is soft. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA Feb 4, 2007 First smell is of hops, almost like the aroma of an IPA. The taste is smooth, and also quite hoppy. The amber color is attractive, with a small amount of Brussels lace clinging to the glass. One of my favortie barley wine style ales, even if it is not your typical barley wine. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Feb 1, 2007 Ruby/dark amber with a beautiful, but small tan head. Big, if not too complex, nose with peach, citrus, some alcohol and some malt and wood. Sweet flavour with a nice hop attack some alcohol and a long lasting hoppy bitterness. I’ll have to see if I can keep one in the cellar for a few years.
