Murky red pour...light amber head Aroma of caramel and floral hops. Taste is medium sweet with a syrupy feel. Finishes with definite alcohol heat.

whew i could totally taste the hop and the sweet malt in this one. had this after dinner and i’ll say it definitely was a bit too much for me.

22 oz. bottle. pours a nice amber hue with tight small head. aroma of subtle citrus amd caramel malt. starts semi sweet lending way to a piny citrus hop flavor then finishing well balanced and slightly astringent with warming alcohol. not as complex as some barley wines but still a solid beer.

650 ml bottle. Pours a rich mahogany with an ample tan head. Fruit and floral tones in the nose with just a hint of alcohol. Weighty body with a complex mixture of caramel malt and resiny hop notes. Slight alcohol warming in the finish.

Pours copper with a medium tan head. Nose is cream, floral and grapefruit hops, and alcohol. Initial cream and caramel malt is quickly overwhelmed by a devastating pine hops bitterness that lasts forever. Not much balance, and too bitter for me.

bottle. wow. minimal head, dark reddish brown color. strong malt flavor i guess to balance the proclaimed 2.5 pounds of hops ber barrel. strong one.

Bottle. Deep copper with off-white head of medium thickness. Peppery, resiny hop aroma with light pineapple aroma. Also some sweet malty scents. Flavor is pungent pine hoppiness like crushed pine needles, light alcohol sting. Balancing this is a fat, sticky maltiness. Heavy pine resin aftertaste. Some bitterness in the finish. Bold, brash and hoppy, but needs a little more complex of a malt to be a first-class barleywine.

Bottle. Moderate aromas of caramel, resin and orange with light notes of broth, raisin, butterscotch, wine and just a bit of smoke. Head is creamy, off white and is mostly lasting with head lacing that dries to the glass. Color is a murky red/brown. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is med/full, between creamy and syrupy (chewy) with a soft carbonation and a slight alcohol smell and aftertaste. Great taste from a barlywine, 22 oz went down real easy.

Had on draught. Poured a dark red color with a thin head. The aroma was of dark fruits, some malts, and monster piney hops. The flavor was much the same with the hops dominating every aspect. There was a little sweetness in there from some caramel and malts as well. It was full bodied and easy drinking that hid the alcohol pretty well. It finished clean with that hop bitterness. Pretty good for the american barley wine style.

pours a lucious red with small ringlet of a head. Piney hop nose forewarning heavy IBUs. Smooth thick mouthfeel, near immediate bitterness curbed by sweet alcohol, more hop bitterness and citrus tones toward the finish. Nice, but like almost every other American barleywine I’ve tried, over-hopped to a point of detraction.
