COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover’s delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel candy-like malt finish. This is a serious beer for serious beer afficionados and it only gets better with age. Cellarable for 3 years.

Mmmm mmmm. A barley wine, not unlike some of the best available, but spiked with extra hops. This pushes the beer from great, to outstanding. Exquisite on draft. Tried at Angler’s Seafood House in Lawrence (11/1/2009)

A - Pours a hazed ruby with a frothy 2 finger off-white head that retains well and leaves random patterns of sticky lacing. S - Grapefruit and biscuit off the top, caramel covered cereal, green leafy hops, tangerine, alcohol vapors. T - Citrus hops, sweet caramel malt, sugary apples, biscuit malt is very pronounced. Evergreen hops comes through then turns to citrus-tangerine and pineapple. Tea tannins, strawberries, mint, and booze come out at the end. Finishes with grapefruit bitterness. M - Creamy, light to medium body, medium carbonation. This is a strange Barley wine. It’s like an offspring of an Imperial IPA and a Barley wine. It was an okay beer but I don’t know what category I would put it in. I would drink this again. Serving type: bottle 05-14-2011

As a barley wine, very disappointed. Way too thin and hop forward. It smells great, but has a thin mouthfeel and little taste. Finish is ok.

Strong hop character and aroma with a very rich Barleywine malt flavor. Great aroma and overall an innovative Barleywine. -- rated via 'Find A Beer' for Blackberry 10

Growler from Joe Canal’s in Lawrenceville, NJ. Lightly hazy copper red color. small bubbly white head. Aroma of burnt sugar and spicy hops with a metallic twinge. Bittersweet dark caramel flavor that combines with spicy, peppery hops. I detect brown butter, Worcestershire, piney hops and grapefruit peel. Finishes dry and bitter with a burnt maltiness.

65cl, American brew, thx to Secret Santa!, complex bitter brew, woody/bitter and slightly alcoholic/fruity, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, small head, very good brew, yet expensive!

clear garnet, rocky off-white head. nice lacing. toffee, pine, citrus, candied fruit, alcohol, apricot. heavy sweetness, very bitter. full body, thick and sticky feel, warm, bitter finish. not all that complex, but it’s done well enough that it really doesn’t matter.

Bottle from sister-in-law, Donna, pours garnet with ample tan head. I could smell the ale as I opened the bottle; hops, ETOH, and hint of citrus. Flavors of pine, light caramel, and citrus with a long lasting hop bitterness on the palate. This surprised me because it tasted more like an IPA than a barley wine. Well balanced, very drinkable.
