Has a kind of reddish amber color and a light brown head. I smell hops, I did say I smell hops and malt. Has a very bitter taste with dried fruits in the mix. Yes this is a barley wine:)!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is straight pineapple, taste has a hint of pineapple as well. However, taste is mostly citrus and pine hops, slight herbal notes, over caramel, with, as I mentioned, a hint of pineapple throughout. Good beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
640mL bottle Batch# 13301B6
Pours a deep copper body, some clarity about it. Holds a dense beige head leaving a thick matte of lace on the way down.
Decent intensity of aroma; piney hop spice, cut grass, citrus rind with rich underlying toasty, caramel malt. Some booze sneaks in there too.
Moderate carbonation lends a bit of creaminess to an otherwise thick and slick body.
Palate start with a substantial whack of caramel sweetness, lightly toasted/biscuity malt notes too, continuing with spicy woody hop & bitter citrus. Finishes dry, lingering aggressive bitterness and warming booze.
A well made American-style Barley Wine. Good example of the style, nice balance, not overly aggressive and boozy, as many tend to be.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sampler at Avery’s. Appearance: ruby red color, slight head, not much lace, clear. Aroma: citrus, floral, caramel, slight vanilla and light peach. Palate: lightly alcoholic texture, soft carbonation, dry and bitter lasting finish. Taste: sweet front half, flowing very fluidly into an excellent bitter finish that lasts as long as you really want it to. Overall, absolutely in love with this beer. Reminds me of Old Ruffian, but maybe smoother and drier.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A delicious, highly hopped up barley wine. The color is mahogany and there’s a fair amount of head and lace, and the aroma is strong and layered. I picked up on a lot of malt and hops and spice, but also figs, ginger, apples. The flavor includes a rich, caramel sweetness over all and through the finish. And there were other notes that popped up here and there; sweet potatoes, pralines, pineapple. The hoppy burn at the end was a nice bonus.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Aroma is perfumy, burnt caramel, toasty, peachy; smells a little older than I like my barleywines. Pours hazy amber with a medium collapsing beige head. Taste is very much like the Bigfoot template--bittersweet, malt-forward with hops in a supporting role; savory, extreme bitter finish. I think I would like this a lot better if it was fresher, just like Bigfoot.
