4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 madsberg (7526) - Søborg, DENMARK - DEC 22, 2005
Bottled: Light amber coloured. Clear. Very invitational beige dense and huge head. Impressive sight. Pineneedles, sweetness, fruit and citrusnotes in the aroma. Flavour is quite vineous. Is herbal and piney. Some vague alcoholnotes and a nice malt balance against the immense hoppiness. Is very bitter in the end and almost grapish. Very dry and full bodied. Nice one.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2006 Bottle... This beer rocks!... "...Amber waves of grain..." was inspired by this beautiful ale. The aroma is of alcohol and hops. The flavor? Fresh hops and caramel. Regardless of how Avery classifies this beer, it is an IIPA in my book! The finish is bittersweet and complex. This is more than a 100 IBU beer. They encourage cellaring? I’m afraid too much time would "dumb-down" the hop bite. HOPHEADS REJOICE! World class brew!

Bottle. Dark amber with large rocky head that diminished very slowly. Complex sweet malt and hops aroma. Medium to full body with a alcohol tone. Good complex malt, caramel and hop flavor with a small alcohol bite. Very good brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 25, 2004
Lightlly hazy reddish amber with off-white head. Sweet lemon and raisins aroma, with pinous resinour overtones. Hops come out as beer warm up. Very hoppy and resinous tatse, with lots of malt sweetness in the end. The hops become more complex as the beer warms up. A cross between an IPA and a BW. Good stuff. Thanks to the Cap!

A gorgeous rich, deep, orange-copper colour. Sweet cookie dough malt aroma, biscuity, caramel and toffee, some vanilla. Also shows lots of resiny hoppiness with orange-citrus notes. Flavour is very similar to the aroma, sweet sticky malt on the front, cookie dough, caramel and toffee, with a healthy dose of hops, resiny citrus and a nice shot of spicy hops in the finish (cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg). Amazingly well-balanced for such a big beer.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2005 Rerate 12/2/2005: Aged for two years. The beer has definitely lost its hoppy aroma, but the bitterness is still there, but balanced with a complex dark caramel maltiness. I think this could age for a few years longer. Quite nice though and very drinkable with less aggressiveness than a fresh sample.
1/13/2003: Big time hop aroma filled the room when I opened the bottle. There was also a subtle caramel malty nose as well. Very laid back, smooth and enjoyable. Just sweet and bitter enough to hide its alcohol. Surprisingly not over-bitter, despite the 100 IBUs which I think is an exaggeration. Very drinkable, which makes this somewhat dangerous I suppose.

Pours with an off-white heady with a hazy amber body. Great lacing. Aroma of sherry, raisins, cherries, caramel and alcohol. Flavor is bitter with some caramel. Creamy body with light carbonation.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2009 Deep amber look, good sized head that dissipates quickly. Very sweet aromas of apricots and pears. Taste is like biting into a ripe apricot, very sweet and sugary. Overall this is very smooth, but with a syrupy aftertaste. [rerate needed].
