Beer_Hawk (705), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jun 24, 2006 Bomber. Poured an amber color with a creamy off-white head that somewhat lasted and left great lacing. The aroma was of grapefruit and sweet malts. The flavor found grapefruit and hops upfront and a caramel and dark fruit ending. Very slight alcohol background. Medium body with light bitterness throughout. Excellent!!
TheShat (123), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Sep 2, 2008 Bottle pours rich amber brown. Frothy head laces nicely. Fantastic aroma that is inviting. Rich malt flavor with a nice amount of sweetness. The finish is nice and dry with some hop kick and alcohol. This is a very good barley wine. Nik925 (136), California, USA Sep 2, 2008 Great appearance and aroma! Nice and dry, especially for a barley wine, which also lends towards the great mouthfeel. Extremely well made, lacks the cloying sweetness found in a lot of barley wines. The best barley wine I have had in a long time. moelikebeer (126), New Brighton, Minnesota, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Clear, light amber pour with a little head. Ton of floral hops in the aroma. Smells more like a IIPA than a barley wine. Plenty of hops in the flavor as well, but also some sweet maltiness and alchol in the finish. By far the hoppiest barley wine I’ve ever head. Still very tasty! oberabcbbsok (682), Hoboken, Belgium Aug 29, 2008 4th of 5 beers on bottle in a vertical tasting. Tasted 2007, 2006 and 2002 at the brewery. A full bodied and really getting better the older it gets.
A very nice beer indead mekju_baksa (9), Houston, Texas, USA does not count Aug 28, 2008 Excellent late evening brew. Great with chicken dishes or sauteed vegetables as it’s slightly sweet (not bitter) and full of mellow hops. I had heard that Saint Arnold’s Divine Reserve #6 was modeled after this brew. Rumor or legend?
