3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is my first barley- wine! Average head over amazing looking light-amber ale. Nose is as expected, grapefriut (and other citrus) blended with a lite malt touch(and alcohol). Taste is grapefruit, caramel, and a great mouth feel. The alcohol is moderatly present and does warm mouth and stomach. I agree w/ wunderbier on the "tea-ish" aspect. I will look forward to more in this style.

Pours a clear reddish brown from a bottle. Aroma of cherry cordial, some oak and caramel. Pretty boozy. Bitter, astringent, and also slightly sweet in the mouth. Again, boozy, burns a little going down. A little much for me.

Hoppy smell and slightly sweet, taste is also much hoppier than expected, smooths out with time but still a bit too hoppy for me...medium diversity in flavor

Rich. Malty. Sweet. Limited play from the hops. It fell between the English and the American Bwine style. I wish it was one or the other. Ok. Muted. Blah...

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Ruby-orange in hue with a bit of haze in the middle. One finger of pillowy, sticky light tan head sits atop the brew. I know this bottle isn’t as fresh as possible -- those that are have an amazing fresh, grassy hop aroma. Still, this is big and citrusy, with a flash of orange and grapefruit backed up by caramelized sugar cooking on the stove. In the flavor, it’s as smooth as a pale ale, but with noticeable heft and alcohol. Grassy, piney hops lead and grip the tongue with brute strength between sips. The back end has a bit of caramel and some lingering toasted biscuit notes. Medium body, not too heavy. Smooth and bitter. One of my favorite barleywines for its drinkability and perfectly blended flavors.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pour into goblet. 1/2 inch tan head leaves lasting lacing. Aroma has raisiny, roasty, malty tones. Appearance is hazy red. Taste is medium sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour with full body. Texture is creamy and flat. This beer has a nice bitter long finish. A well-balanced barley wine with good hoppiness throughout.

Old rating. Nice hoppy barley wine. Mahogany color. Lots of piney citrus hops over malty caramel base. Decent amount of dark fruit and warming booze. Delicious.

Pours a clear reddish-brown with an average size white head. Wonderful aroma of hops, hops and hops! There’s just enough malt, fruit and yeast in the aroma to balance it out just right. Flavour of hops and malt is also nicely balanced. Medium to full bodied. Alcohol is very well hidden.
