Pours a coppery orange amber with a thin layer of creamy foam.Nose is big caramel, sweet and luscious.Flavor is a little raw yet, sweet and something else, must be a wild citrus hops thing going on.Nice malty finish, sweet but bitter also.Very nice brew.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 15, 2008
(Bottled) Slightly hazy dark amber with a smallish, bubbly head. Extremely grainy-malty aroma with strawberry and ashy hints. "Pale rye-pudding" flavor with a huge amount of malt, hefty dose of hops - and still its not sweet. Quite an accomplishment! Quite full-bodied with low carbonation. Definitely among the best barley wines out there.

22 oz bomber. Pours a clear yet dark copper orange color with a small beige head. Aroma of hops, pine, grapefruit, orange and floral notes. Taste is tangy with a strong hoppy presence and hints of orange, grapefruit, pine malt. Not as sweet as most barleywines, but it holds its own for sure. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours copper with a nice off-white head. Hop aroma of pine and citrus with notes of caramel and dried fruit. Flavor is hoppy (citrus, pine, grass) with underlying caramel. Very hoppy for a barleywine. Great beer.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 NomDeBeer (414) - Maryland, USA - MAR 4, 2009
Aroma is mostly citrus hops and some alcohol. Pours a beautiful mahogony color with a lasting off-white head. Taste is caramel, smoke, wood, and plenty of citrus hops - almost more of an Imperial IPA really. Alcohol is noticeable, but hardly overwhelming. Surprisingly drinkable too. Mouthfeel is thick without being syrupy. This is an enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Deep copper, small off-white head. Smells of piney hops, caramel. Extremely soft malt under a just so bitter hop flavor. Medium-full body, soft mouthfeel, just melts in your mouth. This beer has a lot going on for it.
