4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 espenra (771) - Kurland, - MAR 9, 201065.5cl bottle from Systembolaget. It poured a orange, slightly amber colour with a medium big white creamy head. Some carbonation. The aroma is hoppy and loaded with tropical fruits. Notes of citrus, flowers, and spices. Very inticing. The first thing you notice about the flavour is the IBUs and hops, and you can feel the beer grow a little in your mouth. At 100 IBU it is a bit dry and bitter of course, but not in a bad way. Notes of spices and citrus and some earth. It has a long, lingering aftertaste. A wonderful beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 EtTuCthulhu (464) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - JUN 18, 2013
The appearance of this brew fuses a clear copper color with an off-white head that starts substantially but fades quickly to a ring. The aroma blends caramel malts, diacetyl (buttteriness), booze, and floral hops, and the taste is quite bitter, mildly sweet, and slightly sour, but the way the bitterness amplifies as the finish sets in makes this beer less and less enjoyable; however, the other elements of the palate--the medium body, sticky texture, and soft carbonation--do a good job of coating the mouth in an enjoyable way.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 UDBeernut (904) - Near Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 16, 2013
What would hog heaven be? An area of mud, muck, and feces to roll aroud in? To me hog heaven is bacon wrapped in more bacon wrapped around a smoked pork shoulder. But this beer, you see, is none of those. Instead is a solid Gnarley Wine with all the fixin’s of a good pig roast. The strong body holds the dark fruit and malt base with enough bitterness to keep the luau in check. Bacon wrapped bacon it is not, but its close.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 cthomas2390 (126) - Colorado, USA - JUN 13, 2013
Ruby color with thin tan head. Sweet, malty aroma with caramel, licorice, and piney hop notes. Heavy malt is almost immediately cut by hops which come to lay on the back of your tongue. Still finishes fairly dry. Carbonation is maybe a bit too sharp for a barleywine, but leave it out for a few minutes and it mellows nicely.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 czar (2402) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 6, 2013
bottle shared by jean-michaël, thanks! pours clear copper-red with a minimal light beige head,s oem retention. candy floss, toffee, dark fruits, resin, some coffee, tobacco, spicy, cloying sugars. average carbonation, medium body, boozy, slightly harsh peppery-resinous-piney and cloying finish. unbalanced brew but still enjoyable..
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mathieuc (323) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 2, 2013
Bottle graciously provided by Jean-Michael, thanks! Pours a medium brown with some head that leave some lacing. Aroma is hops being crushed by an heavy malty base. Taste is heavily bitter, harsh even. It isn’t too sweet for a barley wine (I can appreciate that). I’m not usually a big fan of american barleywines but this one drinks better than most. It only needs a better balance to be good in my book.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tom10101 (1176) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 1, 2013
Bottle (22 oz). Shared by Jean-Michaël, thanks! Clear amber with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is harsh with caramel, resinous, sweetness and wood. Taste is moderately to heavy sweet with a lot of caramel and resinous notes. Moderate bitterness. Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Harsh. Not really complex. Another beer that is on the thin line that separate hoppy BW from double/triple IPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 niday2288 (83) - - JUN 1, 2013
Nose is lovely with nice malt sweetness and hop floral notes. Also a note of brown sugar and toffee sweetness. Taste is malty with nice hop bitter on the back of the tongue. More hoppy than most barley wines. There are notes of oatmeal and orange peel. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat smooth.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 OKplus (560) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 9, 2013
A - Pours a hazed ruby with a frothy 2 finger off-white head that retains well and leaves random patterns of sticky lacing.
S - Grapefruit and biscuit off the top, caramel covered cereal, green leafy hops, tangerine, alcohol vapors.
T - Citrus hops, sweet caramel malt, sugary apples, biscuit malt is very pronounced. Evergreen hops comes through then turns to citrus-tangerine and pineapple. Tea tannins, strawberries, mint, and booze come out at the end. Finishes with grapefruit bitterness.
M - Creamy, light to medium body, medium carbonation.
This is a strange Barley wine. It’s like an offspring of an Imperial IPA and a Barley wine. It was an okay beer but I don’t know what category I would put it in. I would drink this again.

As a barley wine, very disappointed. Way too thin and hop forward. It smells great, but has a thin mouthfeel and little taste. Finish is ok.

Strong hop character and aroma with a very rich Barleywine malt flavor. Great aroma and overall an innovative Barleywine.
