3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber to chalice thanks Will. Pours amber with thin white head. I get citrus and florals. Taste is sweet with an astringent finish that hangs around a little too long for my taste.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It pours a cloudy like brown with a tan head. As the head dissipates, lacing is present. It has the smell of dried fruit, molasses, alcohol, with a sweet fruit smell. It has a surprisingly sweet fruit taste with molasses and caramel. The bitterness is more on the mild side compared to others in the class except for a twinge in the back. The bitterness became more pronounced as I drank more. It produces a pleasant warming on the way down.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark amber with thin rimming beige head; aroma is blend of hops and malt sweetness; flava is roasty and hoppy upfront nicely blended with a malty sweetness with notes of molasses and sweet cherry; feels medium with decent foamy fizziness; finishes dry slightly bitter and herbal notes.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Banter Bar, Brooklyn, 2013 vintage. Pours a chestnut brown with a small white head with lacing that clings to the sides. Aroma is caramel, toffee, fig, some mild hops in the back. Flavor is similar. Lots of fig, and toffee, caramel. Lovely hop finish. Really only get the hop bitterness in the finish. So nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Fred. Dark copper, with a small, filmy, off-white head and tons of lacing. Lots of caramel in the nose, with some notes of resin, pine, and some herbs. Very bitter, with a strong malty, sweet backbone. Heavy body, syrupy, astringent and chewy. This is a stick, overhopped mess of a beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a hazy copper with one finger head leaving mild to moderate lacing. . Aromas of lasted malt, resinous hops. Taste is very bitter. Pine, grapefruit peel. Perhaps a hint of spice. medium to full bodied. with chewy palate and soft carbonation. Very long bitter finish. Reminds me more of a double/triple IPA than a classic barley wine

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bomber, pours cloudy amber into tulip glass. Off-white 1/2 inch head quickly dissipates, leaves a thin lacing on the glass. Malty nose with a slight hop balance, the brewerís description of caramel-candy malt finish is right on target. Resinous, floral hoppiness just enough to balance all that malt, this bottle is fresh so I wonder what it would be like if cellared for 3 years, perhaps too malty if the hops get lost over time. Will have to find another bottle and set it aside for comparison. If you love IPAs but havenít had a barley wine, you might be disappointed as it isnít so hoppy as described. But if you love a good barley wine, this is a fine example of how to balance heavy malts with solid hops.

Have seen this on the selves for years and assumed Iíd rated. Apparently not. Bomber form Giant Eagle in Upper Arlington ($6.99). Amber orange pour with a big frothy off-white head and strong retention. Aroma of sweet bready malt, spice, caramel, dank citrus. Tastes are along those lines - sweet, nutty, resiny tropical citrus. Sticky oily palate. Finishes bitter. Excellent.
