Tasted at oakquinox 2012. Dark red, slightly brown, small off white head. Tart red cherry, oak, berry, red wine, grain, sweetness, and a bit acidic. Kind of like barrel aged flanders red. Pretty good.

womencantsail (3927) - Home of Rebecca Black, California, USA - APR 25, 2012
Dark brown in color with an off-white head. A touch of vinegar on the nose along with lots of black cherry, red wine, and oak. Just a little bit of grassy and earthy funk. Pretty solid Flanders Red sort of aroma. The flavor is nicely tart with some balsamic vinegar notes along with a strong fruity quality. Nice cherry, grape, and raisin with red wine flavor, tannic oak, and a mild grass.

Bottle from a generous trader. Pours dark brown with small off white head. Nose/taste of wine, red fruits, tart cherries, oak and cocoa. Some mixed grains. Something lacking in the mouth feel. Light to medium body. Moderate sourness.

12 oz. bottle from TheDude. Bottled 8/17/11. Thanks man! Dark brown pour with a small, tan head that ends up just as a rim around the glass. Aroma of oak, tart cherries, funk, dust. Mild red fruits. Flavor is tart, funky, lots of red berries, raspberries, cherries. Earthy funk enveloped by wet wool. Lactic sourness comes out as you drink. Strong cabernet coming out as well. Light carbonation, slick body, finishes very sour. Avery is making some of the most unique and interesting beers in their Barrel-Aged series and nobody seems to be talking about them for some reason.

A masterful creation, and i must say the nexus of wine and beer, and oak. Somewhat cherry, tannic but not unpleasantly so. Red body with fast disappearing head. Thanks Jason B.

Poured into a snifter. Bottled Aug 17th, 2011. 2.5 A: Very dark brown, nearly black color. Just about a half finger of fizzy head that fell quickly and left just traces of lacing. 4.0 S: I wondered if this was aged in white or red zinfindel barrels, but one whiff quickly answered that (red). Big vinous grape component with a strong acetic acidity. Earthy and animal funk with a rotting log undertone. Oaky with lots of cherry fruitiness and toasty malts. 4.0 T: Interesting mix of acetic and lactic acid. The acetic hits you hard and quick at the start. Then the tangy lactic sets in, giving peachy and cherry fruitiness. Vinous grape again. Oaky with a mild vanilla component and surprsingly little tannins. Earthy and fruity funk. 4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good spritzy carbonation. Very smooth despite the acidity. 4.0 D: I definitely enjoyed this. Lots of good flavors with a nice balance of acidity and funk. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-28-2012 00:09:50
