In the 1700ís one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Coloradoís hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Tapwerks, OKC. Draft, pours golden orange. Great foamy head that lasts. Aroma of peach apricot, not much pine. First sip refreshingly fruity, full mouth. Slightly bitter, stays. Easy drinking, but not complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a hazy light golden yellow body that gives a one finger white foamy head, the head dies after a minute and a half and thereís a fair amount of thick lacing clinging to the sides of the glass. The smell had grapefruit flavored hops, light malts. The taste had the grapefruit come back to add a piney punch assaulting my taste buds, no aftertaste, dry finish. On the palate, it sat at/about a light to medium, sessionable. Carbonation seems to be smoother than most AIPAís, but still good, not under-carbonated just good. Overall, this is a pretty good AIPA that I would come back to.

12oz can. Pours a sparkling yellow color with foamy off-white head and average carbonation. Aroma is subtle floral hops. Flavor is completely bitter, no detectable malt presence. Not as good as I expected.

Citrus hop aroma with undertones of caramel and citrus peels. Somewhat muted. Grapefruit bitterness offset with smooth caramel and molasses. Hints of spices, oranges, toast and lemon peel. A bit grainy but with good balance. Fizzy but refreshing. Mild for an IPA but enjoyable. Definitely a stronger fruit character than expected.

Great West Coast style American IPA, light on malt, good firm bitterness, could use more crystal malt flavor to be perfect, but certainly a fine example.

Excellent IPA. Can't find the distinct hop that gives out the bitterness, but great mash up overall. Will drink again and again

Pours a golden amber. One finger lasting head. Lots of line and citrus hops on aroma. Taste is very hoppy and cirtussy. Great ipa

Smells of mangos and lemon. Very tropical and the taste is super fresh hops with a very clean first taste. The malt that backs it up is nice and comforting. A good IPA in the more classical sense.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a hazy amber color. The head, at a fingers worth and featuring a white shade, has a rocky texture and decent retention. A goodly amount of lacing is left behind. S: Smells like a typical IPA, and thatís not really an insult. Itís loaded with herbal, piny hops, backed by a twinge of grapefruit. Some malts poke through, also. All in all, the nose is well done but standard. T: It opens up with a mild sweetness (think sugar cookie), before a pleasant wave of herbal, bitter hops finish it off. Some grapefruity hints in the aftertaste. Thereís a touch of hop-derived complexity, which is probably my favorite feature. Otherwise, itís just a competent IPA, no more, no less. M: While itís mildly sweet on the palate, it doesnít have an overt sliminess some IPAs do. The hops do well to keep the finish mildly dry, and medium carbonation gives it good drinkability. O: I really have nothing to complain about. Itís a decent IPA without flaws. The problem is that thereís nothing here that wows me - basically, itís a bog standard IPA. I wouldnít seek it out given all the choices here, but Iíd easily drink it again if offered to me.
