Subtle malt and hop aroma. Nice full bitterness that sneaks up on you. Finishes to the dry side.

Bitter, somewhat thin, lacks complexity, some decent notes in the grapefruit finish, a decent choice for a hot weather thrist quencher.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 Draught: Tall sprucey pine trees..with a golden glow and a thin frothy snowball-like head...A Killer west coast 1st-degree murder like flavor..balanced by some creepy malts..Fortunately not too sweet..and well balanced..A good start to a drunken night

The citrus here (grapefruit, hint of pomegranate [is that a citrus?]) also has a hint of sauterne wine, which suggests a sweetness in the aroma. The acidity and bitterness is on the harsh / uncomplex side. Normal to fine appearance and palate, but overall a beer that doesn’t bring me any closer to loving IPAs. The last swig had me reaching for a glass of water to try and wash away the aftertaste.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ultraspank (867) - Dublin, Ohio, USA - NOV 5, 2002
Had this brew in a large bottle. Fresh hoppy nose of citrus, spice, pine, and spruce. Pours a clear medium honey golden. The large tight creamy white head is fully lasting with excellent lacing. The flavor starts warm, toasty and spicy. Acidity level is moderate to heavy with just a flash of sweetness in the middle. The finish is long and fully bitter. The medium dry palate is soft to lively and finishes very astringent. I love this style so it’s not too hard to make me happy with one of these brews.

Bitter like a Pyramid IPA. OK stuff. This brew lacked balance and complexity.

A lot of citrus in both the aroma and the flavor. Nice bite on the finish. A good IPA.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2007 Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark yellow. Aroma is moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily bitter, lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Very citric, grapefruit-juicy. Not my thing, but good for what it is.

Great looking head that is just waiting to be soaked up. Nice hop and malt balance. Good Colorado IPA.
