COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700ís one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Coloradoís hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Lighter orange body, with a nice lacy head. Strong citrus and hoppy aroma - very pleasant and robust. A hint of ash as well. Dry and crisp. Highly grapefruited flavor. A tad tart, and although its not very sweet at all, it is quite refreshing. Overall, not disappointing.

Golden pour with a frothy white head, sticky lacing - floral, spicy aroma, with hints of pine - not as hoppy as I expected from this area of the country, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing - besides, it’s still pretty hoppy, with a decent amount of bready maltiness to balance it out (though just slightly not quite enough of it) - finish of "spicy bread," if that makes any sense - pretty good for the style, but not one to go out of your way for.

A light copper pour with a map on the bottle gaiing a bonus point. The aroma is mild, even for a 6% run-of-the-mill IPA. The taste is leafy, almost green. Finish is dry, dead on teh palate with a leeching aftertaste. Usually palate ruining is left for the big boys of this genre.

Bottle. Nose of grapefruit with spicy and earthy notes. Pours a clear copper color with great head and lacing. Nice citrus bitterness with a good malt profile. Bitter finish that lasts a while. Very nice IPA!

I can smell the grapefruit in this one as soon as I open the bottle. A closer sniff ref\veals some sweetness, lightly toasted malt and earthy hops. Great cream yeah with an orangish body. Very refreshing citrus quickly taken over by a dry, butter, rindey citrus. The flavor is rounded out by lightly toasted malts and earthy hops

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2008 This is still a decent IPA. Farily light copper color. medium head. The aroma is a little on the light side with orange peel and a little pine. I also detect a little floral note. The taste is thin at first with a little bite of orange peel and some pine. Overall, a nice, relatively light IPA, would be great for a session.

22oz bottle, no BBD Decent head, copper color. Nose is subdued hops, yeast, citrus fruit. Nicely balanced flavor, malt is evident, bitter finish, hops certainly show up, but donít overwhelm the beer...nice piney lingering bitterness. A pleasure.

This is a good quality IPA. Not the best Iíve ever had but I could enjoy one of these on a daily basis. Pours a nice copper color with a decent sized ivory head. The nose is a citrusy hop scent. With a smooth creamy texture and citrus hop flavors that arenít overwhelming. Simple but good.

A decent IPA, nothing special but nothing bad either. Pours a straw/yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is floral and citrucy, with a bit of that cat-food hop smell I donít enjoy. Flavor is pretty sharply bitter, more so than a lot of IPAís. Flavor falls a bit flat in the face of the bitterness really, but it finishes dry and malty, which is pleasant. Like I said, decent but nothing special. Canít go wrong with Avery though!
