3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Ashley's, Ann Arbor. Quite hoppy and creamy, minimal malt backbone, good bitterness but quite one-dimensional - pineyness without end.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2004 I think this is a great IPA.Pours out a nice rich slight orange but more golden color, the head is retained and lace is very detailed(marked by each sip).Smells of roasty heady citric(almost nectar like hoppiness, some estery yeast?(crystal malts in there too) and a tease of canny tomatoe.Had a bite on the palate that kept me comin' back.Columbus,Styrian golding & Centennial hops on the bill.Great work Avery. Only IPA I've tried w/the super crispy Styrian used. This beer is best Fresh. This sample I just re-rated was bottled on 6-29-04.Not the best IPA(some kind of almost burnt harsh flavor in there) but when it's young, it is one hell of an IPA.Great mouthfeel with nice light carbonation. Not a hop monster but a unique treasure when fresh.Bottling dates are printed on the cases.Cheers

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 25, 2003 Not as hoppy as I expected but very well done. Nice golden color. Chunky lacing. Fruity aroma (citrus, apples), slight notes of perfume with hints of dust. Medium to full bodied. Gentle carbonation. Just enough malt sweetness to hold up the citrusy hops. I like my IPA's like this, strongly aromatic with a bit less emphasis on bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Typrical west coast IPA. Deep yellow/orange color with an odd rocky white head...kinda looked like the top off a root beer float. Grapefruit aroma with a woody, burnt background character. The flavor was similar to the aroma, but a little more burnt. Bubbly and refreshing.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orange and light tan head. Fuity citrus flavors at the start, then a sturdy chalky flavor all the way to the finish. Maybe a little mint, as well. Clean finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beautiful golden beer to look at, with a small head that disappeared rather quickly. A hop attack of pine and grapefruit that jumped out. Hop dominated taste, with a long dry finish. Medium body and very refreshing. Oh boy am I lucky! All these great beers.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Amber hue. Medium-sized white, creamy head. Excellent thick lacing.
Notes of spruce, pine, and everything else evergreen in the nose. Undernotes of apricot and other fuzzy fruits. Also black pepper.
The flavor is very bitter and moderately citrusy with a hint of grapefruit rind.
Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Crisp, clean and bitter finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a hop heads delight. Light in appearance for an IPA. Great aroma and long lasting hop flavor.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
light straw color with a fluffy white head. aroma is floral and grapefruit - pungent hop aroma. flavor is biased towards grapefruit citris hoppiness - and plent of it. mouthfeel is resinous and chewy - very good. this is an excellent IPA with the fine flavor characterists of the 3 Floyd's Dreadnaught IPA without the brutal ABV.
