COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Tap. Curtains of white lacing from a nice white head on a clear orange. Sherbert, organge, citrus, and grass all make it into the aroma. Tastes citrusy and a touch of grapefruit hop, but pretty muted and a little boring. Medium body but also a little watery with soft carbonation.

Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, bread, citrus and grape. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Pours straw gold. Heavily carbonated. Foamy, white head. Aroma is pine and citrus perfume. Not the strongest aroma for an IPA. Medium-full bodied, with lively carbonation. Mouthfeel is probably the strong point of the beer. Taste is quite bitter, and quite dry. Emphasis is on bittering hops, not aroma hops. Not a lot of fruity, floral character. More of a harshly bitter, hop-resin taste reminiscent of pine tar. Overall, a decent IPA, definitely west-coast style. Moderately drinkable, but there are much better examples of the style. If you like IPAs, you’ll like it fine. Wasn’t my favorite.

Pours deep golden with a nice white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit and some caramel malt. Taste is the same with a big bitter bite. Thick mouthfeel. Good stuff

Pours orange with an off white head. The aroma has some pine and light caramel. The flavor is rather malty with a very bitter finish. Kind of off putting really. Mostly pine and nothing else. I imagine this one is heavy on bittering hops without much flavor or aroma. Not really my kind of IPA.

Clear and gold in color with a lingering wisp of a head and touch of lacing. Abundant resinous and citrus hops in the aroma. Medium-bodied with a lasting finish. Balanced well with a honey-like malt sweetness. Massive hop flavor and an assertive bitterness. The hops are all on display here.

Golden color, pine hops aroma. Very strong pine hops taste with a malty background....kind of a cross between an IPA and a double IPA - a 1.5 I suppose. Good, but I’m more a fine of citrus / floral vs. pine hops.

Clear golden yellow, good sized fluffy head. Incredible lacing; I could tell on the glass where every sip left its mark. Peppery green and grassy hops hit the nose with a touch of citrus. Big hop-forward flavor with a noticeable tang of green bell pepper. Grassy notes follow. Not a super complex hop profile. Some slight toast and funky cheese follow up. Not too stellar, in my opinion. Maybe it was the high hopes. Just felt imbalanced and too peppery. Not very smooth,
