COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

You have to visit the Avery tap room and enjoy Avery IPA. Dugana and Maharaja are great ales from the tap room too. Avery IPA is my first choice, however. The dry hopped is on tap too. You’ll never go wrong with Avery IPA from the tap. It don’t get no better.

Orange to amber apearance. Aroma of fruit and hops, bitter taste that is light and pleasing. An enjoyable beer in the winter and id imagine even more pleasant on a warm day outside.

Maybe I’m off, but I didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would. I’m usually big on the big malty, higher alcohol IPAs. But just feels harsh and forced with all the screaming hops in the midst of some syrupy alcohol mess. Will try again though. Maybe me or the bottle are off.

Pours with a medium and mildly opaque copper color, with an medium-sized off-white head that releases a fairly complex and hoppy aroma: Hints of citrus fruits, along with pine and caramel tickle the nose. The taste approximates the nose: a fairly complex array of fruity and sweet tastes, but a bitterness that is surprising mild and refreshing with just a small bite. I’ve had better IPAs – ones with far more bite. Yet, this one is probably a bit more refreshing on warm summer days.

On cask at the Petrol Station in Houston. Avery has a lot of experience casking this beer, and I think it’s probably the most common cask in Texas - the Austin Flying Saucer seems to have it at least once a month. The color is somewhere between straw yellow and light amber, with an eggshell head. Surprisingly clear for a cask - it’s bright. The nose has pineapple, a little grassy tone, and a bit of citrus rind. The flavor as a whole is fairly dry for an IPA, with a fairly distinct bitterness - it honestly sticks out a little. Not much sweetness to be found in this one. I’m really not sure whether to call it a hop-centric beer or an unbalanced beer. Overall, it’s not bad, and it’s certainly good for quenching one of those hop cravings we beer lovers seem to get from time to time.

Light orange with a white head. The aroma is grassy and citrus hops with a little bit of biscuit malt mixed in. A well-balanced aroma. The flavor is caramel malt with some orange citrus and grassy notes mixed in. Balanced flavor with low bitterness. The beer is a very easy drinker. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Still smiling from the novelty of drinking Avery beer from a can. So I’m a consumer. Sue me. If only I had a bottle to do a side-by-side. Bitter but not too much so, citrus-tinted but with enough of a pine-straw finish to assure its IPA-dom. Gorgeous, too, bright orange-gold and clear. Always a good go-to beer in a clutch situation; Avery IPA is sweet enough to please the meek, but the lingering dry finish is all hophead.

In a can. Sooooooo sweet. I love beer in a can. Balanced, with a bit of hops. (sarcasm). I love this beer.
