COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

12 oz bottle from Archers. Pours a slightly hazy bubbly copper with an average size diminishing fluffy off-white head. Aroma is big time hops, both citrus and floral. Flavor’s the same, big floral and citrus hops taste along with a good amount of sweet malt to balance it out and a nice long bitter dry finish -- delicious! Medium bodied. Very easy to drink.

What a great IPA. It is well balanced and the hop flavor is so well balanced. Not overly hopped like a lot of IPA’s are now. for a high ABV it is very drinkable. And I like the new labels. Great Beer.

0.355l bottle. Nice orange semi-clear body with a solid bright white head. Citrus, orange, fruity, passion fruit, and barky aromas along with lots of sweet malts. A bit thin bodied perhaps and medium to lively small-sized carbonation. Tastes good. It’s a well balanced, mild, grassy and medium bitter IPA that does it’s job i a nice way. Perhaps a bit thin mouthfeeling, but I cant really complain about anything else.

Poured from a can to a glass. Beautiful super clear golden pour with a big 2 finger white head. Good retention, left big rings of lace. Aroma was a bit toned down out of the can, much better the few times I had this on draught. Quite malt forward, somewhat grainy, light hop. Flavors were super crisp, dry and refreshing. Hops were strategically strewn throughout although not in huge fashion. Light citrus notes. Excellently balanced.

Clear golden-orange, decent off-white head. Aroma of citrus, floral and piney hops, and pale malt. Taste is bitter and sweet and a little fruity. Medium body, a little dry and another finish.

I think I ended up with a bad batch. The faintest of hop aromas was detected and although the golden color and head are classic IPA, this really tasted like a beginners home brew with a nasty aftertaste. Will probably pour out the rest of the six pack...or maybe I’m spoiled after drinking Surly Abrasive and Bells Hopslam this week?

12oz canned Dec 28, 2010. Quite fresh. Pours crystal clear yellow/gold/light amber with a two finger white head that holds a good cap and leaves plentiful rings and webs of lacing. Aroma is pine, citrus, floral hops, orange, just a touch dank. Good strength. Flavor is pine and resinous hops, some citrus rind, caramel malt in the middle, finishes with good bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, medium to high carbonation. Avoided Avery IPA in the past as there weren’t bottle dates and it was generally a slow mover. Had to jump on the fresh arrival of the new cans and I must say I’m quite impressed. Also props to Avery for putting a date code on the bottom of the cans! I’ll be back!

Bottled version. This beer pours a dull yellow with a medium white head. The aromas are citrus, pine and bread. The mouthfeel is sticky and bitter with a heavy body. Really good beer! Cheers!
