COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Bottle. Pours a light clear golden amber with a lasting white head and nice lacing. Nose is orangy hops, floral background, some sweetness. Heavily carbonated, significant citrusy, floral hoppy bitterness, well-balanced with some grassy malt. Smooth and creamy toward the end. Finish is long, bitter, citrus.

The color is topaz with a light head. Very thick lacing. The taste is sharp and hoppy without being overbearing. It’s a great IPA!!

12 oz. bottle, pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of pine hops, orange peel and citrus. Flavour is not especially hoppy, with caramel malt sweetness in there to balance it. Very smooth IPA.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine in Tustin ($1.29). Pours a yellow-amber hue with two full fingers of fluffy white foam. Aroma of hops (citrus, grass) with some notable bready malts also in the nose. Flavor is not especially hoppy and it’s as much sweet as bitter. Fruity and earthy hop flavors mix well with the strong malt (bready, some caramel) backbone. Earthy hoppy tones in the finish but not very bitter. (1161, 306)

bubbleflubber (1203) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - MAY 18, 2010
Pours orange-light amber into the glass, with a wispy head that leaves soapy lace. The nose has a nice blend of orange citrus and floral hops. Caramel malts, grapefruit, orange rind/peel/zest, and peppering pine hops for a boldly bitter back. Very nice balance and a medium-full body with a substantive palate. Great IPA.
