COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Bottle at Folkets Hus, Kristinehamn. A big surprise to find this stuff here. Pours a orange color with a big white head, leaving some lacing on the glass. Aroma is fresh and hoppy with tropical fruits, pineapple, grass, resin and some caramely malt. Flavour is also hoppy with a nice fresh tropical fruit character (pineapple), grass, caramel and nice resinous bitterness. Body is medium with a rather lively, but nice, carbonation. I seldom get my IPAs this fresh at pubs in Sweden, and at newly open place in a small town where the most interesting beer usually is "Murphy’s Irish Stout" or similiar this was a big, big surprise!

Bottle, brought back from North Dakota. Pours cloudy orange, thin white head that quickly reduces to a skim, very nice lacing however. Nose is fresh and bracing, mostly citrus fruits: orange, lemon, grapefruit, some nice grassy notes as well. Not as lifted as the best examples though. Palate is moderately bitter, with a presence of malt, and then the citrus hops, this time joined by some juniper notes arrive. Tingly and well-carbonated, feels just right. If I didn’t have to drive 14 hours to get it, I could see this being a regular purchase for me.

Pours orange. Nose is sweet malts, sweet hops, citrus and pine. Flavor is syrupy hoppy, resiny pine and citrus fruits. Finishes sweet. I don’t really care for this.

Bottle. A clear pale golden color pour with a medium sized thick lasting foamy head , lots of jagged lacing left . Aroma of citrusy hops ,grapefruit some candy sugars and lightly toasted pale malts . Flavor is of resin and juicy citrus with a nice addition of the toasty malts , some sugary grapefruit and light pine notes , light to medium body , with a clean crisp mouthfeel , medium bitterness with a long finish , very drinkable and a very good IPA
