COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Smells of citrus, fresh hops, some floral smells and a bit of malt; great citrus smell to it! The taste unfortunately does not have as much citrus to it, as it seems a bit more watered down. Not too strong flavored, with a bit of an alcohol bite on the back end. Not too bad, but from the aroma, I was hoping for better.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Clear light amber brew with whte head. I get fruity (pear) and piney hops in the aroma. Taste is malty sweet at the start of the swallow transitioning to a malty / citrus and pine hops finish, with a short bitter aftertaste. The heavier malts mute the hops a bit, but the hoppiness is still pretty intense. More malty than many modern IPA’s. A fine brew.

Bottle from at home. September, 2011.
Pours light amber-yellow, creamy eggshell head. Grassy aromas of lemons some grapefruit and hay. The hop is not very present in the taste and flavours and is a little bit insipidly overall. Slightly to malt focused for my taste. The balance is still good though, not to sweet. An decent IPA but not much more.

Can - Pours light amber with a big fluffy white head. Refreshing aroma of grapefruit, lemon, and faint pine sap, with a little sweet malt in the background. The taste is stickier, with the pine dialed up, some grassy notes coming in and lasting through the finish, and a big bready, lightly sweet malt base. The word sticky definitely comes to mind with this one. Big and slick in the mouth, pretty hefty for an IPA. Not too bad.

Bottle. Pours an amber color. Slight aroma of pine and citrus. Medium carbonation. Lighter palate, not too resiny. Not a palate wrecker.

Nice pine aroma. Golden in color some lacing but not a ton, Has a great balanced bitter flavor. One of my favorite IPA’s

Tap at Churchkey. Amber pour, smallish white head. Aroma holds fantastic nectar fruit presence and some good pine and grass in there as well. Flavor is a bit more disappointing, with a more basic and undetailed hop presence. Still very tasty, and a nice bitter finish.

Bottle at home. Golden beer with white foam. Citrus, grapefruit, honey and flowers. Nice IPA.
