4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerskinner (24) - North Dakota, USA - MAR 13, 2011You have to visit the Avery tap room and enjoy Avery IPA. Dugana and Maharaja are great ales from the tap room too. Avery IPA is my first choice, however. The dry hopped is on tap too. You’ll never go wrong with Avery IPA from the tap. It don’t get no better.

Pours a nice light amber with a golden hue. Aroma is grassy, scallions, pine, with a faint citrusy grapefruit. The scallion (like) aroma is not my favorite part. Taste is citrusy, nice malt undertone, piney, and grassy. Finish is clean and really crisp with a biting bitterness. I could certainly go for one of these with some Thai food!
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ACHops (281) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 13, 2013
On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours heavily clouded golden orange with thin head. Aroma is fresh herby hops. Taste is mild caramel malt and bitter punchy hops. Notes of fresh cut grass, pine, and a hint of grapefruit. Balanced, and pretty mild as IPAs go. Finishes quite bitter. Not bad, but nothing that would make me seek this out again.

12oz can, BB 06.2014. Thanks Allen! - Appropriately enjoyed after a concert by CO-based microtonal guitar composer Neil Haverstick. - Pours a meticulously clean and clear golden orange with perfect head, with a lean palate to match. This could truly be considered to be a textbook old-school IPA, with all standard floral, zesty and resinous hops in confident harmony (particularly palate-numbers like Columbus and Centennial are wisely dosed) and a crisp malt base just substantial enough to transport the concomitant IBUs and style-appropriate ABVs. My ideal IPA has a slightly more cloudy look and creamy mouthfeel to it, but this one checks all boxes with expert balance and is an efficient reminder of how staisfying an original IPA can taste when having had a few too many new-fangled EU IPAs and overzealous US I/DIPAs.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Garbageman (353) - Lexington, South Carolina, USA - MAY 6, 2013
From tap. Pours a golden orange in color with nice white head and wonderful lacing. The aroma is on point for a floral IPA. All grapefruit, citrus and grassy notes. Very fresh. Taste is balanced with a decent malt backbone and a crisp bitter finish.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 flylikeabanana (158) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Can pours a golden amber with a frothy white head, good lacing. Aroma is floral and citrusy hops. Taste is sweet orange, decently hoppy, pine, and a full malt balance. A great example of the style, but nothing extraordinary to me.

Bottle. Pours light hazy golden orange with a small fizzy white head. Nose is light citrus, florals, grass. Flavor is similar, lightly sweet caramel, toffee, more grapefruit, light pine resin. Brewed by Jeffs for Ernests.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tia (757) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - APR 29, 2013
Bottle. Hazy apple cider look with light head and light lacing. First sniff is grapefruit then buttered corn bread and I get coriander (I’m on a kick). Not as hoppy as I usually like, but not bad- a tad rubbery. A rounder mouth feel than I would have expected, decent hop finish.

From the bottle poured a hazy tan brew with a thin white head. Skunky, mellow, hoppy flavors and aromas.

12 oz can poured into a 20 oz tulip. Nose is an interesting blend of floral hops and college kegger. Beautiful golden color with soapy white head that quickly dissipates into a durable lacing. Crisp mouth - eminently drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Slayer85 (979) - Firenze, ITALY - APR 21, 2013
Can. A clear dark golden to pale amber beer, with a large, frothy, lacing, mostly lasting, white head. The aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (grapefruit, apricot, resin), with a note of orange. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightòy to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, very long finish with moderate to heavy bitterness, lightly alcoholic. Thinner than expected, but the final bitterness is pretty clean and pleasant. And it looks very nice. A good one.
