COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

A great IPA. Very pale golden color, with creamy white head. Heavy lacing. Piney and citrusy hop aromas dominate. Flavor follows aroma with the hop bitterness dominating. Definitely off-balance in terms of malts and hops...but for those of us who enjoy truly hoppy west coast IPA’s, this is a good beer.

355 mL can. A typical orange-amber IPA. Neither the aroma nor the flavour are super strong or complex, but both are appealing. This is more about hops than malt, of course, and in this case, it’s light citrus and floral. Really drinkable IPA.

From a can. cloudy golden with white head. citrus sweet pineapple malt aroma. Flavor is a nice caramel malt and grapefruit hop with strong nice bitter finish. Food note: spicy food amplifies the hop bitterness in this one quite a bit.

nose: definite sauv blanc [or cat pee] and a very honeyed apple tone of viognier, also a vanilla woodiness. palate: very different from most ipas ive had. it tastes like a particularly pungent riesling or sauv blanc sparkling wine with strong resiny hops. bitterness is out of the way, just enough to remind you that it’s beer after all. finish is a load of pine. delicious.

355ml bottle. Pours a fairly clear deep gold, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. Plum, bubblegum and tropical hops notes mix with caramel and light toffee malt to create the aroma. Strong lemon and kiwifruit hops up front soften into melon leading into the mid-palate. This offers smooth caramel malt and a hint of a charry flavour, with plum hops giving it quite a soft finish. A very good IPA, with strong, flavoursome hops and a good malt backbone.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours a hazy orange with a decent head, leaves a thin lacing on glass. aroma is more malty than hoppy. floral hops and maybe a bread tasting malt, finishes smooth. could be a session IPA. not too much alcohol taste. Decent Beer.
