COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

(Bottled@Stockholm Beer Festival 2005) Pale golden with a small head. Strongly flowery-hoppy aroma with toffee hints, quite balanced. flowery, aromatic-hoppy flavor with decent maltiness. Thick, slicky and bitter palate with low carbonation. A straightforward, but still balanced IPA.

Draft at Paradiso Dupont, courtesy of Greg - thank you sir! Pale yellow color, thick white head. Aroma of wet grass and light citrus. Taste is bright citrus with very nice balance and a smoothly bitter finish. Good stuff.

Honeyish malt and flowery hop aroma. Golden, low head with almost no carbonation. Honey malt flavors with a flowery hop middle. Dry bitterhop finish. ok body.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2008 Medium copper color with a substantial pillowy top. The aroma is merely vague, the beer’s only notable drawback. This is perfectly hopped, giving it a nice fruity and flowery character, but there’s a robust maltiness behind it and even a hint of smoke. Superb.

Sweet caramel malt and fruity esters complement strong floral hops in the nose. Lightly hazy deep golden coloured body is topped by a generous, frothy, white, fine bubbled head that lasts well and coats the sides of the glass. Citrus and floral hop flavours attack the palate along with pronounced bitterness. Nice malt backbone comes in late to support. Citrus and peach notes grace the lingering bitterness. Medium body has quite effervescent carbonation which keeps it from becoming cloying or sticky. Very refreshing. Tulip glass. Allowed to warm from fridge temperature. Can received as a gift... Thanks, Adam!

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2011 Medium offwhite head. Hazy orange body with yeast particles. Firm sweetish malty aroma with powerful tropical fruit and pine needle notes. Dry pine needle and mango taste with firm malty background. Notes of straw. Dry straw, pine needle, and resin aftertaste. Excellent (0.341l bottle at Knut Albert’s. Absolutely outstanding. Rated twice.)

Draught pint at The Moan and Dove, August 2006. Medium hazy amber with a moderate lasting white head and some purty lacing....stinky, pungent hoppy aroma, bathroom odors (the good ones if you understand), wet spruce and leather/suede, really interesting....sweet, nicely full body, juicy with a bit of that raw pungency but also some nice sharp fruitiness and a strong acerbic grassiness towards the finish....low to moderate carbonation, very solid and better than I’d expected.

Bottled. Like diving into a pine forest. Dry, crispy, immensly refreshing!
