COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a large foamy off white head that left lots of lacing. Aroma is very nice. First picked up orange and grapefruit from the hops. Sweet aroma overall. Maybe a touch of floral hops. Flavor is grapefruit, pine with a slight malt balance. A solid IPA for sure.

Bottle: Translucent orange hued golden, huge rocky white head, clumpy lacing, lively carbonation.   Rich hop oriented nose.   Slight pepper.   Solid hop bitterness, slightly sweet, even softer citrus peel.   Malt background is just enough to balance out the hop aspect.   This one is quite good, bitter yet not totally mouth watering.   Fairly well rounded body, moderate mouthfeel.   Clean finish, not overbearing bitterness at all, while remaining quite flavorful.   Solid example of the style.   I’m glad its finally in Washington.   I would love to try this on tap.

Bottle. Clear, deep golden colour with a rocky white head. Powerful grapefruit aroma, a hint of flowers and little else. Sweet caramel start, offset by the hop bitterness, yielding a dry finish. Citrus hoppiness takes over in the middle, but it is still a quite well-balanced beer. Soft texture, low carbonation, above-average body. It drives down its hoppiness behind its rounded malty flavours, a proof of the craftmanship behind it.

Thanks to matta for the bottle! Amber body with a small whitish head. Nose is BIG hops! Very floral and piney. However, there’s enough malt sweet lingering in the aroma to make it attractive. Light maple syrup notes. Taste is lightly spicy and hoppy with sweet, creamy maltiness, floral notes, and citrus fruits. Leans more towards the hops here. Body is smooth and mildly carbonated. Lingering bitterness throughout. Finishes with more hops, light spiciness, citrus notes, and mild sweetness.

Had on tap at the Ginger Man in Austin, Tx. Medium copper pour, decent white head, fair amount of lacing. Typical west coast grapefruity hoppiness, which is expected and not unappreciated, it’s just that these are all tasting quite the same - but will not mark this one down for that!. An excellent example of the style - clean, crisp and sharp, like a West Coast IPA should be. A bit of light spearmint undertone separates this one from the mases. Good example of the Amercian IPA style.

(cask at Meddlesome Moth) hazy deep yellow pour with creamy bubbles and excellent lacing. Nose of Candi sugar, grass and light citrus hops. Taste of earthy hops, lightly bitter citrus, grassy with a creamy/oily finish.

Bottle. Golden color, creamy long lastinghead. Strong floral and catty hop aroma with notes of raisins and apple. Strong citrusy and raisin-like hop flavor. Fruity-hoppy and bitter finish. Has some symptoms of oxidisation.
