Bottle from a bodega in Brooklyn. Orange body with rocky head. Hoppy nose. Taste of citrus, hops and pine. Sweet and grapefruity finish. Hoppy heaven.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (3414) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 10, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2011 355mL bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a thick, off-white head that has good retention and leaves very good lacing. Aroma is off- a little skunked or stale: floor cleaner, Brazil nut. Taste is all Brazil nut, raw nuttiness, and loads of soap. Very soapy throughout the body. 2/10/2010 4/4/5/2/8=2.3
Can. Pours a clear, deep gold with a very large, creme head. Large retention and loads of lace. Nose is fresh, floral, pine, small orange flavored detergent and small candy. Taste is fuller, buttery, dense, with obvious alcohol coming across as orange vodka. Palate seems to be clean, no diacetyl, no soap. A nice improvement. 8/20/2011 6/4/6/4/12=3.0
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3412) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 3, 2005
Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. Good aroma of citrusy hops. Medium intensity flavor of citrusy hops with caramel and a mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad but I would have thought that an IPA by Avery would bring more lupulin fireworks.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 decaturstevo (3386) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - APR 1, 2006
On tap at the bar again smoke kept me from appreciating the aroma as much as I should have. It had a smooth fruity, malt start but finished with a hard pleasant bitter. Not much of a head but did have a nice clinging lace. All that said the bottom line is that this was a good beer that I will try again from a bottle and probably re-rate.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 JK (3385) - Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 15, 2005
A good but not great ipa. Its best quality is the great palate, with enough body to keep it interesting but not so heavy that it is hard to drink. The aroma is mostly hoppy, but some floral aspects. The flavor blends herbal and fruity hops and does it well; something few IPAs even attempt. Gold body with a small head, looks only a shade better than many lagers.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BrewDad (3384) - Olympia, Washington, USA - NOV 5, 2010
#bbc10 - Rating this beer at the Beer bloggers conference here in beautiful Boulder Colorado. Good golden color, with a thin head and clear as a bell. Bitter hops in the nose with a light malt. Malt was nice build the hops are sharp with a light crisp finish. Interesting finish with a sharp finish from the high carbonation.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ante (3375) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 25, 2004
Copper orange, slightly hazy, small white head. Sweet, bold flowery hop aroma with notes of leaves and earth. Dry leafy and floral hop flavour with notes of lemon. Dry lingering hop bitter finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jgb9348 (3367) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 10, 2003
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2003 Golden coloured beer if i've ever seen golden, with a dense white head. Smells of citrus, sweet pineapple and very fragrant hops. A very nice aroma, and definately mouth-watering. Piney in the hops and sweet with the malt. Medium-bodied; The tates lasts for a long-time and the hops are the primary flavour (which they should be). Aftertaste full of the piney hops and bitter the mouth...a real treat for Hop-heads like me! Overall one of the better American IPAs. Pick one up if you can find it! Even though i've had this beer before, I still enjoy posting new reviews for the same beer. I bougtht this single 12 ounce bottle at Chevy Chase Wines & Spirits in Washington, D.C. I sampled this beer on 30-August-2003. Rating for this tasting: 9,4,9,4,16.
Previous Tasting:
Light in colour, very hoppy in the nose...citrusey and hoppy taste...light-bodied, but enjoyable!
