COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Way too hoppy for me as I am not a hop head by any means. It poured a small sized ivory head with fine-small bubbles that was mostly lasting. The body was clear with some carbonation observed and a golden hue. The nose was very hoppy as was the flavor which is of course very typical for an IPA. It left a lingering bitter aftertaste with a tingly and smooth mouthfeel and it was medium bodied. This IPA left a good lacing.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2007 I love a good IPA but found this one to be a little lacking. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a light bronze color with a small creamy white head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with a strong fruity hop presence. The mouthfeel is crisp and sparkling. The flavor is sharp with spicy and fruity hops. The beer is a little lacking in malt balance. Nice but there are so many out there that are better.

12 oz. bottle from Mt. Adams Bar & Grill in Cincinnati. Pours gold/amber with small white head. Moderate carbonation. Aroma of hops and citrus, flavor of the same, primarily hops, with a little sugar and spice to boot. Definitely an above average IPA but not nearly in the class of Avery’s Maharaja.

These hops don’t mess around. They grab you and don’t let go until well after the last drop. Drink carefully and appreciate.

Nose is a full orange/pine, some nice malt too, hazy orange/apricot, pours a small but firm off-wite head. Flavour is a big time orange/pine with loads of malt.Medium bodied, very well balanced, fittingly bitter. Fine example!

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a clear golden amber with an off white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of light citrus with a hint of pine and backing sweet bread. Flavor begins with light grassy pine with backing sweet bread and grain.

Clearish amber colour with tiny white head. Fruity resiny aroma in an aroma. Sweetish fruity flavour with resiny and bitter notes flavour.
