4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Aubrey (3125) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JUN 3, 2000
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2004 Glowing orange with a frothy, lasting head. Lively nose. Lovely mouthfeel: not too thick and syrupy and not too light. Sweet, cookie malts accented by very charismatic hops (floral, piney, grapefruity). Dry and bitter finish. Wonderful IPA!

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2011 Tasted on tap at the brewery in Boulder. Golden yellow orange appearance with a pretty creamy head. Delicious hoppy aroma. Light malts with an unbelievably delicious hoppy flavor. You really get to taste the whole spectrum of hops in this flavor. One of my favorite IPAs.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 FlacoAlto (3085) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - OCT 26, 2003
Nice clear copper color that is crowned by a good lasting beige head. Aromas of citrus and hops waft from the glass as I pour it. A light grassy hay aroma (but only the good aspects), there is a decent amount of hop aroma to this beer. It is well carbonated, and gets quite lively when swirled in the glass. Great malt flavor that accompanies the hoppy flavor and bitterness. A malty sweet flavor with hints of biscuits and caramel malts. Quite a lingering bitterness in the finish. A good solid IPA, not quite over the top, which is good because you don't always want that. There is a ton of balanced flavors in this beer. Both the malt and hops are competing for attention, though the hops are the definite center piece. Definitely drink this beer on the warm side of cool, it allows more of the flavor to open up.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Aurelius (3077) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 28, 2003
Holy cat whizz, Batman! The hops gave this a distinct odor of feline urine when I first opened the bottle. It didn't calm down a whole lot. Metallic, unenjoyable. Decent label. A drain pour for me.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 puzzl (3072) - New York, New York, USA - APR 17, 2006
Really not a fan of this beer. Aroma is soapy citrus, slight lemon and grapefruit, Taste is mostly pinesol with a dirty, unpleasant finish. Still nicely drinkable.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Nuffield (3058) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - NOV 14, 2002
The citrus here (grapefruit, hint of pomegranate [is that a citrus?]) also has a hint of sauterne wine, which suggests a sweetness in the aroma. The acidity and bitterness is on the harsh / uncomplex side. Normal to fine appearance and palate, but overall a beer that doesn’t bring me any closer to loving IPAs. The last swig had me reaching for a glass of water to try and wash away the aftertaste.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 EithCubes (3048) - GERMANY - FEB 27, 2007
Bottle. Loads of lychee and pineapple to match the grapefruit nose. Fresh fruitiness is extremely enticing. Clear golden pour with a creamy, lacing beige head. Moderately strong bittersweet flavor with a nice hop profile. Fullish body with a dusty, hoppy aftertaste and light notes of fruitiness mentioned afore. Floral and citrusy, indeed. Excellent non-brutal IPA, would take this any day.

Sampled at the Avery tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits. Pours clear copper with a medium off-white head. Piney and grassy hop aroma without much malt balance. Earthy and grassy hop flavor with a bit of malt in the middle before the bitter finish.
