COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Clear yellow pour with orange hues and sustainable thin off-white head. Floral pine hop aroma with notes of honey. Citric hop flavor is balanced, but has a distint hop kick. Medium body with low carbonation. Hop oil finish.

A nice floral/citrus hopped IPA with a nice balance, fresh hoppy finish, and nice grapefruit finish. Pours amber with a decent white silky head. A quick malt to the start with a good bitterness in the end.

Poured a dark yellow; medium size head. Aroma was citrus hops, earthy, mild malt. Crisp flavor. Hops and malt balanced very well. Citrus and floral. Pretty good for style.

Bitter like a Pyramid IPA. OK stuff. This brew lacked balance and complexity.

At first aroma was a bit sour but in the glass its certainly more hoppy, perhaps even some pine needles. Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager appearance and color. Initiall swallow is not too bad but don’t let up. Because when you do it’s bitter hops in yer eye. Each sips has a rude bitter medicinal feel to it. Yes sir, you can tell its 6%. About average carbonation. Good example of the style; bumptious and just plain offensive.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2008 [bottle] Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a thick white head and very little carbonation. Definite citrus aroma with a strong hint of grapefruit and hops. Good citrusy flavor upfront that gives way to a strong hoppy bite and a slight peppery and bitter finish.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2008 Pours clear copper with a frothy white head and has nice lacing. The aroma is hoppy citrus with some funkiness that smells like shoes. Medium body with generous soft carbonation. Taste is thankfully better than the aroma - thick dirty musty malt taste with woody hops. Finish is piney hops with plenty of bitterness. An okay IPA, but not my favorite.
Rerate notes The appearance is about the same. The aroma has lots of hops giving of traits of grapefruit, floral and green onion. There is also earthy caramel malt. Medium prickly body with some smoothness as well and bright carbonation. The taste is much like the aroma, but the malt is more forward. Make no mistake though, it is still hop heavy. A nice IPA that was very underrated on my initial rating.

Bottle@Patricks. Poura golden with an off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, biscuits, grain, floral and peachy hops. Flavor is sweet and bitter with some floral, grapefruit and peachy hops and grains. Medium body, average carbonation
